Between these different tabs, you get full-featured advanced solutions for video editing, color correction, visual effects, motion graphics, and audio post-production. DaVinci Resolve is also built to work fast and efficiently and to handle large projects with collaboration. You can work with up to 8K footage and a wide variety of formats. Toolsets are available for advanced HDR editing, 3D stereoscopic workflows, social media content, and much more.

Your order provides you with an activation card by mail. The card has a code for downloading and running the software on up to two computers.

Blackmagic Design Davinci Resolve Studio Reviews

Newer model!

Expected an older version of the dongle, but actually received a Resolve Studio 18 dongle, so that was nice to see that they are still making new ones and not just selling the old ones. Obviously using it on 18.5 was effortless. I love it.

It's Just An Activation Card

By Ken
Rated 3 out of 5

It's an activation card that needs to be mailed to you. The home site if purchased there, you get an email and have it within minutes, however, DR requires (or at least required) a PayPal account, of which I do not want or need. No guest checkout. So, I was stuck to using this method. From DR directly you get an email with the code which only takes minutes vs. this method which takes days. B&H needs to get approval for the same day email option instead of making people wait days for it. This is ultimately a deal between DR and B&H.

Best video editing software; far outshines Premier Pro

By Mark

Upgrading to DaVinci Resolve Studio has revolutionized my video editing work due to its superior stability when rendering projects to output video. Editing is also far easier than Premier Pro and Final Cut, with a more logical work flow. There are a few quirks that are easily overcome. Enables the production of over three hours of 4K videos every week with plenty of visual and audio transitions, and many audio enhancements. The voice isolation feature has saved videos from open mics and background noise. It's great.

Next-gen program with a last-gen delivery method

By James

What do I even need to say about DaVinci Resolve? For all of its P.I.T.A workarounds, bugs, goofy behaviors, etc., it really is just in a class of its own - even the free version. But a one-time, lifetime license (presuming they never rug pull like a certain company that rhymes with Bot-o Resk did) just makes this an obvious pick over other NLEs. My gripe with Blackmagic: A snail mail card? What is this, 2003? Email is a great, digital, instant thing. It can be easily verified - which I'd much rather do than sit around waiting for a card to travel across state lines, wasting fuel all the way. Minor oddity in this day and age, but one I think should be mentioned. All aside, a great product that I hope will only improve going forward.

Editing, color and editing program that I am most satisfied

By Sinan

Date: 2023-05-09

I was using Adobe's programs before. I needed to use davinci for coloring. When I switch to the Davinci Resolve Studio version; I was able to do it all with a single program. Edit, edit, color, even sound settings. I am very satisfied, I recommend it to everyone. One of its most important features is that it is a one-time purchase, no need to pay continuously like a monthly subscription, and it receives lifetime updates

The Last Step

I have used the free version of Davinci Resolve for several years. My editing skills have improved, and I'm feeling the need for many of the features which can only be accessed in the Studio version. it's kind of a strange way to deliver software these days, but I now have the activation card. It's nice quality, has a cheerful picture and is, I guess, a kind of receipt. As I say, I have been using this software for about five years. It's heavy-duty and almost bizarrely full-featured, yet it runs without a problem on my 2017 Macbook Pro laptop. I do recommend a larger monitor. There is a lot of stuff on the screen.

The features in 18.5 are overwhelming.

I started a podcast using Audacity but I needed/wanted more. I started looking at Fairlight in the free version. Then, the updates that were made in the Studio version of 18.5 made it an absolute bargain. Once I feel comfortable with the audio, I will take on the video. I intend to go step by step to develop some master classes and a YouTube channel. Now I have the tools to create something to be proud of. There is a learning curve and I am an octogenarian but it was a challenge in 1957 to build my first computer with vacuum tubes.. Taking on new challenges keeps me going.

Switched from Premiere Pro to Davinci Resolve

By Harley

Im a content creator and used Premiere Pro for years. However, having the option to pay once for a lifetime licence for an editing program that is doing its best to get better at a fast pace started to weight. I suddenly did the leap and am pretty happy i did. It takes some getting used to time, but nothing that some tutorials can't help. Good thing is that whatever i needed, i just had to search for the thing i used to do in premiere pro + Davinci Resolve and there was a tutorial on how to do it on Resolve. For what i do, wich is gameplay videos with cuts, its perfect. And it's awesome to edit short videos for the platform as well, i love the feature where it generates auto subtitles in several languages (brazilian portuguese included, wich is my main language) and you can save LOTS of time just tweaking what the algorithm didn't get right. Its surprising how much it gets right. Also, from my experience, the editing is smoother on Resolve than it was on Premiere, with my PC fighting less to playback stuff in Resolve. And, being able to, like in premiere, render using NVIDIA RTX encoder really fasten things up. To end, i love that Davinci Resolve is being constantly updated hearing what people need and in a fast pace giving updates. It's been almost two months since im only using Resolve and i already downloaded like 4 different new updates with new features.

Recently i purchased this activation card and I noticed a serious Lag while editing footage from sony A7Siii (XAVC 4K 4:2:2 24 fps). i am using a Laptop Acer Predator Helios 300 with a graphic card NVIDIA GTX1060, 30 G RAM. i did not notice this Lag with the free version of Davinci. What's the solution to this Lag because I have tried to use Open CL, CUDA and Auto mode and nothing worked well. i am also connecting the laptop to a monitor Via HDMI. What's the solution ?
Asked by: Elie
It is difficult to troubleshoot your system through this channel. we recommend that you contact us via chat, email, or phone (1-800-606-6969) It is important to note that the paid version and the free version are essentially the same program. paying for it unlocks more tools, settings, and support for higher codecs but it does not change the hardware requirements. If you were able to accomplish something with the free version there is no reason that it cant be accomplished with the paid version. Check your settings (such as optimized media, render cache, playback settings, Timeline Proxy mode etc). Check your storage (typically SSDs or Raid Arrays are required to playback 4K video files especially 10 bit 4:2:2 from the A7S) Check your computer's Task manager to see how much CPU/GPU/Ram is being used while you edit or export. I hope this helps.

The activation key can activate as many times as you want. When you go for your third activation, Resolve will disable the last two activations and activate on this new computer. So you can have up to 2 computers running Resolve.
