Ubiquiti Networks UVC-NVR Overview

  • 1Description

The UniFi NVR with 2TB HDD from Ubiquiti Networks is capable of managing and recording from up to 50 cameras. The NVR is plug-and-play and the setup wizard automatically detects cameras for quick setup. It features the Intel D2550 Processor and 4GB of RAM, as well as a preinstalled 2TB hard drive to allow you to store recorded video.

The software features an advanced UI with functions such as custom motion detection zones, event recordings, email alerts, live view monitoring, disk management, and analytics. The UI can be accessed via a web browser on a Windows PC or on an iOS or Android device. It also features detailed statistical reporting, multiple views, versatile camera settings, advanced analytics, and customizable event recordings.

Additional live views playlists can be created with a configurable live camera feed rotation. The software allows you to define the cameras you want included in the playlist and for how long you want them to appear on the screen before moving on to the next live feed. The NVR features automatic recording management to free up disk space. User-definable disk space and date-based auto purge allow you to keep a set amount of free disk space or automatically delete recordings after a certain number of days.

Note: HDMI, VGA, USB, SD slot, and audio input/output ports come factory disabled. They may be activated at future times via firmware updates.

    Ubiquiti Networks UVC-NVR Reviews

UniFi UVC-NVR with 2TB HDD is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from GREAT HARDWARE BUT I have purchased several Ubiquiti products over the last few months. I find their products to be high quality. And I would recommend them to my friends and associates but for one reason. They come with poor instructions. Unless you are from Silicone Valley it's a struggle to get the equipment configured. If you want to sell more of your wonderful products to 'the masses' do a better job of explaining how to configure them. And include that in the packaging on paper not on Youtube!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not the most initiative piece of hardware, but it works well The is a rock solid NVR device, that has some quirky set-up steps, that might intmidate some. The included instructions are very light and more info can be had by downloading the full manual form teh UniFi website. Even then it's still not 100% clear, but persistance and patience will pay off. Be advised that the device really doesn't work well with Firefox, but is a breeze with Chrome. The web interface works well too. The small footprint means it can sit anywhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well, but some things to note I purchased this unit along with a 5-pack of the Unifi G3 AF cameras.? I wanted a low power NVR dedicated to recording video output from the aforementioned cameras.? It's fanless, thus silent.? Two connections:? One Gigabit Ethernet connection to your switch, the other is a power cable.? While the cameras are POE, this device requires a dedicated power connection.? The 2TB drive on this unit ( they also make a 500GB drive variant ) allows me to run 24/7 recording at HD resolution, 30fps / 5000kbps across four cameras.? That amount of data appears to consume ~10% of available drive space ( 2TB version ) per day. Notice I said FOUR cameras.? If you are running more cameras or need longer retention times,? you will probably want to build your own system ( linux / windows ) and download the NVR software from Ubiquiti.? It does the exact same thing as the dedicated NVR does, only you get to configure how much drive space to dedicate to it.? ( the sky is the limit depending on your budget for such things ) If your Linux / Unix Fu is sufficient, you can probably automate an SSH connection to the NVR and download all of the video to another location / destination for archival purposes before the unit starts overwriting old data.? I don't need more than a week, so I haven't done so yet.? Make sure your network is up to the task though as copying nearly 2TB of data might take a bit of time to complete even at Gigabit speeds. Giving my unit some breathing room disk space wise, I configured the device to keep video for eight days before it begins overwriting with new video.? You can download any of the video segments ( ten minutes each ) at any time if you wish to do so.? Overall, the device performs as expected so far.? It would be nice to see a larger drive option, but for a home setup it is more than sufficient.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much improved over earlier versions The greater storage capacity of this model is nice but the software is also much improved both for remote playback and real time video monitoring. Adding cameras is very easy. We have a 13 camera system that is stable and maintenance free.
