    ProVideoInstruments VeCASTER reviews

VeCASTER Pro HD 1080P H264 IP Streaming Encoder is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product We attached this streaming encoder to our recording deck to get a live view of what's being recording in our studio from any room in our office. The A/V quality is excellent. It was easy to setup. I had it working in 20 minutes. Basic network knowledge is required (or call your IT guy). We use the VLC app from desktop PC's and our phones and tablets. Very pleased with the product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a Great Product AT ALL Didn't work and the customer service from PVI is astronomically bad. Unlike anything I've ever seen. You're better off with another brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! Ordered this device last week to extend a HD video feed over a 12 mile Ubiquiti microwave backhaul. Took a chance because of reading a previous bad review; however, my budget only allowed me for this device. My findings are as follows, anyone with minor IT or broadcasting experience will be able to setup this device without using the manual. Works perfectly with VLC viewer on Windows, Linux, or Apple iOS. It also works perfect on X-Square M1 HD+ and Manhattan RC-1978 FTA Satellite Receivers that have IPTV enabled. This device should also work natively on SmartTVs; however, I don't have one here at the tower to test out. FYI, you must enable the m3u8 stream on the VeCASTER to get it to work on the X2 and Manhattan receivers. The quality of watching the stream over the X2 receiver is comparable to watching a HD 1080p DVB-S2 satellite feed. I assume the reason why this device received a previous bad review is because of a simple network issue that is commonly overlooked. HINT: Make sure your using an IP address that is in the same subnet as the device. I used a straight threw cable and assigned my laptop an IP Address of 192.168.1.222. I was able to access the web portal on the first try. If you are connected to another network or WLAN with the same subnet, disable the WLAN or other LAN port until you get the VeCASTER setup. In conclusion, this device works as advertised. I'm well pleased with the quality.
