Huawei Matebook D overview

  • 1Description

The 15.6" Matebook D Notebook from Huawei is a compact and lightweight system designed for on-the-go use. Powered by a 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5-7200U dual-core processor, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and a dedicated NVIDA GeForce MX940MX graphics card, it can easily tackle everyday tasks and even some light gaming. To enhance this system's performance further, you can install an additional 8GB RAM module for a max RAM capacity of 16GB. For storage, it has a 1TB SATA hard drive. Should you need more room, you can connect external storage solutions using its multiple USB ports.

Its 15.6" display is built with an IPS (In-Plane Switching) panel, which provides you with wide 178° viewing angles and vivid colors. Furthermore, it has thin bezels and an 83% screen-to-body ratio for an immersive viewing experience. Connect to the Internet via 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi and pair compatible wireless peripherals with Bluetooth connectivity. Other integrated features include an HDMI port, a webcam, speakers, microphones, and a mic/headphone combo jack. The operating system installed is Windows 10 Home (64-Bit).

Dolby Atmos Sound System
The MateBook D is equipped with Dolby's custom-designed and tuned surround sound speakers to deliver immersive and enhanced audio quality.
15.6" IPS Display
Equipped with a 15.6" IPS (In-Plane Switching) display, the MateBook D offers wide 178° viewing angles and vivid colors. Moreover, it has an 83% screen-to-body ratio for a more immersive viewing experience.

Windows 10 Home

Start Menu
After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.
Cortana
Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her Notebook, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information gathering skills.
Microsoft Edge
After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With Microsoft Edge, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.
Windows Store
For Windows 10, Microsoft has unified the Windows Store. Now, apps for PCs, tablets, and phones will all be accessible from one place. And with support for Universal Apps, one version of an app can work across all your compatible devices automatically.
Windows Continuum
Windows 10 was designed for a variety of screen sizes and input styles, and with its Continuum feature, it automatically adapts to fit your needs. A Windows 10 tablet on its own requires a touch-centric approach, but attaching a mouse and keyboard will shift everything to a more traditional interface. You can even attach an external monitor to your Windows 10 phone for a near-desktop experience. But it's not just the operating system; Windows Universal Apps take advantage of Continuum as well.
Xbox on Windows 10
Gaming is a big focus of Windows 10. Xbox integration allows for PC players to match up against Xbox One players on supported games, and if you have an Xbox One, you can even stream compatible titles to your PC. Native support for recording with the new Game DVR feature makes it easy to capture and share your gameplay. The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.

    Huawei Matebook D reviews

    15.6" Matebook D Notebook is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing for the price Nice and light, very fast computer. Excellent edge to edge screen and the speakers are amazing. The only downside is I wish the battery life was a bit better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Slim and Beautify Huawei Matebook D is very slim, lightweight, and beautiful. It also feel high quality. I like that the keyboard is black with white lettering (good contrast for older folk). My previous laptop is a HP with silver keyboard and gray lettering (terrible for the eye). So far I am loving the Matebook D. B&H offer the best price and the delivery is fast. The delivery company text me and said signature required, but they just drop off at my front door and took off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST LAPTOP EVER So i play a game called secondlife this "work laptop" is actually pretty good it keeps cool while playing this game with the nvidia graphics i changed my setting within the control panel. Ive never had an nvidia card before so this was a big upgrade and for that price? What a steal Thank you bh for providing the best products to me and also my brother i heard about this website from him. Basically this laptop is good to me but too bad they already discontinued it. Down side is someone accidentally scratched the top of it lol

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's good for the price For the price it's a very nice laptop with an excellent display. Dolby atmos is nice though I wish the speakers could be louder at times. About 3 months after I started using this, Windows Explorer has been constantly crashing, icons don't load and can barely use folders. This is a Windows 10 issue which is probably the worst thing ever invented. It also forces automatic updates even when I'm in the middle of something, then takes 2 hours to update and reboot, extremely frustrating.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Laptop for work I've only used it for a few days so not a thorough or technical review. Outside looks sleek and professional. Met my specifications and is working well. Keyboard has full size arrow keys, which is a necessity for me, and touchpad works well. Not five stars because the power cord is much shorter than my Dell laptop and plug is large, which is inconvenient. Also, the keyboard is not backlit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good looking and Great for Office aplications I am glad I bought this computer. Value for money it was a no brainer. It has the specifications of the more main stream computers, an aluminum case and apart from a slow hard drive is as fast as my desk top work computer. In hindsight the 250gb SSD hard drive would have been a better choice but I am not complaining.
