NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10-Series Graphics Cards
NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 10-series graphics cards can deliver up to a 40% increase in performance over the previous generation. Not only are they powerful, they can deliver similar performance to their desktop counterparts with a slight performance difference. This changes mobile gaming, allowing you to max out your game's visuals settings so you can enjoy it at its best. Furthermore, this 10-series graphics card is VR capable so you can plug in your virtual reality headset to experience a new way to play.
    Harman Audio & Dolby Premium
Whether you game with headphones or not, the Legion Y520 has you covered with its Harman speakers featuring Dolby Audio Premium, which is custom-tuned to deliver quality audio for all content.
    Lenovo Nerve Sense
Lenovo Nerve Sense is the customization software that lets you adjust keyboard lighting, customize hotkeys, and streamline audio.
    Red-Backlit Keyboard
The Y520 has a red backlit keyboard with 1.7mm of key travel distance, which delivers responsive keystrokes and lets you type in dimly lit or even dark environments.
    Make Music Anywhere
Stagelight is a software for creating music that's included on your Legion Y520. It's available on other Windows devices, including smart phones, tablets, and desktops. You'll be able to make beats, mix loops, or create full songs with vocal tracks.

    Windows 10

    Start Menu
After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.
Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana, can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the Internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her Notebook, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information-gathering skills.
    Microsoft Edge
After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With Microsoft Edge, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.
    Windows Store
For Windows 10, Microsoft has unified the Windows Store. Now, apps for computers, tablets, and phones will all be accessible from one place. And with support for Universal Apps, one version of an app can work across all your compatible devices automatically.
    Windows Continuum
Windows 10 was designed for a variety of screen sizes and input styles, and with its Continuum feature, it automatically adapts to fit your needs. A Windows 10 tablet on its own requires a touch-centric approach, but attaching a mouse and keyboard will shift everything to a more traditional interface. You can even attach an external monitor to your Windows 10 phone for a near-desktop experience. But it's not just the operating system; Windows Universal Apps take advantage of Continuum as well.
    Xbox on Windows 10
Gaming is a big focus of Windows 10. Xbox integration allows for computer players to match up against Xbox One players on supported games, and if you have an Xbox One, you can even stream compatible titles to your computer. Native support for recording with the new Game DVR feature makes it easy to capture and share your gameplay. The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.

Lenovo Legion Y520 reviews

15.6" Legion Y520 Notebook is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wanted to buy Mac, happy with this for video editing. I wanted a laptop to have the ability to edit while on the go if need be. I wanted to buy Mac but, for the specs you get with this machine it's practically twice the machine for half or a third of the price compared to Max. This machine has been handling large premiere projects better than my desktop (Dell XPS 8910). Editing has been super smooth. The Cons of this machine are mostly tactile. The trackpad is not great by any means. The screen is very dull, and the whole machine attracts fingerprints. If you can live without iOS and the clean finishings you get with a Mac then I say go for this machine specifically for video editing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great affordable option for portable video editing I bought this laptop to replace a MacBook Pro that met an unfortunate end by a soft drink. I do a fair amount of corporate, commercial and documentary shoots on the road, so I need a laptop to review daily selects and do basic assembly editing of both 1080p and UHD footage using the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite. This laptop performs well for this purpose with all the right specs out of the box aside for RAM, which can easily be upgraded. I did give it 4/5 because the trackpad/mouse is somewhat plastic-feeling and difficult to use. The overall build is decent, but it is plastic and bulky, so that will need to be taken into consideration when you're looking at laptop bags/cases.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Flawed but generally solid Pros: Works great so far - the display is much better and brighter than reviews suggested. Very quiet and generally does not get very hot. Cons: I had thought this had an 866Kbps Intel wifi card, but it's a 433Kbps Realtek. It's pretty solid, though. Touchpad is not great: There's no scroll zones at the right or the bottom, and no two-finger tap to right-click. The physical buttons are only easy to click at the far right and far left, and the right-click simply fails to register about half the time. The number pad is skimpy (no Enter key, no dedicated PgUp/PgDn/Home/End keys), and all the numbers are a row higher than they should be, which takes a lot of getting used to.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great laptop This is a great system for the price. It is powerful enough to run nearly anything, on the highest graphics settings, smoothly. I like Lenovo nerve sense because you can set up network priority and increase fan speed easily. The sound is typical for a laptop but is better than most with speakers plugged in. There is very little bloatware and it is easily removed. The cons of the system are that, even with the higher fan speed turned on, the processor runs fairly hot during heavy graphics areas. I would also recommend getting the 16GB of RAM versus the 8. Most of the time the system runs at about 50% of the total RAM capacity and jumps to 75% during heavy graphics operations. I would buy another Lenovo system without a doubt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a fast computer, love it! At first, I didn't care for the PC but it has since grown on me. It's fast and Lenovo didn't put any bloatware that I can see on it. It didn't work for my initial plans so I changed my plans and am using a different PC for my software development. The reason why it didn't work is the size of the software and the C drive is 128GB. The next time I buy a PC, I will buy one with a larger SSD. That's not a ding on the PC; it's a ding on me for not doing my homework. I was not impressed the packing that B&H did. When I picked it up, the tape was open on the ends of the box and on part of the top and part of the bottom. Luckily, the computer was fine. I think B&H should be able to spare more tape to ensure that the item arrives safely. I have purchased many items from B&H and this is the first one that had packing issues.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wireless and bluetooth not working The wireless and bluetooth adapters are not showing in device manager. After contacting B&H customer service and the lenovo support forum I found out that this is a known issue. With various reboots, removing and reinstalling devices and drivers, disabling and enabling the wireless in the bios, the adapter finally appeared and worked only to disappear again at the next boot. Having to travel, I counted on the reliability of B&H and Lenovo to buy a laptop that I knew I would not be able to return so this is a real economic damage and not just the wasted hours and annoyance of having to debug the laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Price and Specs I have been looking for a gaming laptop below $1000 . This model looks great and is really fast . Only has 8GB of RAM but I can upgrade that pretty easily . No buyers remorse here.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pleased with purchase so far. Have purchased many Lenovo laptops over the years and this one doesn't disappoint. It's fast, the screen is great, the sound is great. It keeps fingerprints on the lid but who cares. My only issue is with the number keypad. It's high on the keyboard and the number lock is on the bottom of the keypad (you keep hitting NumLock key thinking it's the number 1). This is different from EVERY other laptop I've ever owned. Don't know why Lenovo made this change but it's a minor inconvenience.
