Wide-angle prime is designed for APS-C-format Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras and provides a 24mm equivalent focal length.
Bright f/1.4 maximum aperture excels in low-light conditions and also affords increased control over depth of field for achieving selective focus effects.
Two special low dispersion (SLD) elements and three F low dispersion (FLD) elements reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to achieve greater clarity and color accuracy.
Two aspherical elements are used to limit distortion and spherical aberrations and also contribute to greater overall sharpness and accurate rendering.

is this lens good for the Sony A7Riii ?
Not really, this is a lens for cropped sensors and will reduce the resolution by about 40%. If you are searching Sigma lenses, make sure they have a DG designation instead of a DC designation.

The lens by itself is approximately 2.84 x 3.63 / 72.2 x 92.3 mm. The hood adds about 2.41 /61.21mm for a total of 5.24 /133.3mm.

Unfortunately, I ended up purchasing this lens to use with my IR-converted A6400 camera. The IR hotspots are HORRIBLE when using this lens!

Putting this on the a7rii, it becomes a 24mm 1.4?
I shoot the Sigma 16mm 1.4 in Sony E mount , which is made for crop sensor , on fullframe Sony A7S and A7Sii ...
I can CHOOSE to shoot in crop 1.5 mode, then get equiv to 24mm, OR I can CHOOSE to shoot in full sensor , with some vignetting... or anything in between...
I shoot mostly nightsky video with those cameras so some of the vignetting is eliminated because of the 16:9 ratio crop that comes automatically in video... and if you edit in letterbox 1:2.35 or similar you crop away even more of the vignetting... and if you shoot 4K you can even crop away most of the vignetting somewhere between 16 and 24 mm , and save in 1080p...
and if you shoot the nightsky, northern lights like I do , well, haha, black vignetting around a black nightsky , no big deal ! ... not much of a problem, except there are not many stars in the vignetting black area.. or if you edit in 1:1 ratio ( e.g. for Instagram ) there's only tiny vignetting in corners.... in other words, this is a superb cheap 16mm 1.4 that can also be used on fullframe sensors, if you have a little bit of imagination and creativity. Ignore the rules, be free to do what you want.
examples ? I don't know if I can share links here but you can find videos I shot of northern lights using the A7Sii and this Sigma 16mm 1.4 C lens. in youtube search : EPIC AURORA in SWEDEN HALLOWEEN 2021
or also : 3-day aurora hunt Iceland northern lights , used several cameras but the scenes of northern lights realtime video are all shot on A7S with this 16mm 1.4 , with or without crop. Or search my name in Instagram or FB aurorafiddler to see a few more examples.
P.S. likewise, I shoot fullframe Canon EF lenses with speedbooster on full sensor, despite the "rules" ... sure I get again some vignetting, but meanwhile I speedboost my Sigma 20/1.4 to shoot at 14/1.0 ;-)

How does this lens compare to the Sony Zeiss ...
How does this lens compare to the Sony Zeiss 16-70mm f/4 lens? I shoot primarily landscapes. When shooting multi-image panoramas at 16mm, the stitching software (LR, PS, Hugin) has trouble creating a pano without alot of distortion. Just wonder if this prime lens might do a better job?
I'm not familiar with the Zeiss lens, but have been able to create some very satisfactory Panoramas with edge to edge sharpness. I'm quite pleased with the lens and would heartily recommend it to anyone.
