    Tamrac Velocity 8Z V2.0 reviews

Tamrac Velocity 8Z V2.0 Sling Bag (Black, Gray) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fits a large, crop-sensor camera and a 70-200 f/2.8 The Tamrac Velocity 8z v2.0, what does it fit? I am able to comfortably fit a Nikon D500, a Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 (hood reversed), a Nikkor 24-70 f/2.8, a Nikkor DX 35mm f/1.8, a flash, a 9.7" iPad, and a Rogue flash bender in the main compartment. With a some effort, both a D500 and a D300s can fit in the bag, with one attached to the 24-70 and the other attached to the 70-200, along with the 35mm f/1.8, the flash, and the flash bender. Getting the iPad in requires a bit of shoving when the D300s is in there. While it all fits, this wouldn't be the best way to carry two large, crop-sensor bodies, but in a pinch... it does fit. The pocket on the inside of the lid easily holds a rear lens cap and body cap, gray and white cards, a small microfiber cloth, an "AS-22 speedlight stand", a pencil or pen, and a small notebook or phone. On the front of the bag, there is another zippered pocket. Inside the pocket there are four more pockets: a long, shallow, zippered pocket made of a transparent plastic that has been reinforced with a fabric mesh along the inside flap of the front pocket, and three approximately three-inch by five-inch pockets stitched to the body of the bag. The long pocket on the lid seems like a good place to store memory cards, but since it's one long pocket, full and empty cards cannot be segregated. The three pockets stitched to the body of the bag are roomy, but because they're roomy and don't have lids batteries and other smaller items sometimes fall out of the pockets. Regardless, inside the various compartments of this large zipper pocket on the front of the bag I usually carry a 72mm circular polarizer, a Canon 500 D closeup lens, a spare battery for my camera, spare batteries for my flash, a rocket blower, memory cards, an SD card reader for iOS devices, and some lens pens. When traveling, I can also load the pocket up with battery chargers. There is one last zippered pocket... a zippered pocket along the strap. I've not found it to be particularly useful. The bag has a strap on one side for attaching accessories and a pocket on the other. The comfort of the bag is what you would expect, more comfortable than an over the shoulder or messenger bag but less comfortable than a backpack when carrying a lot of gear. Access to the gear in the bag is great. Swing the bag around front, open the lid, and grab the gear. It doesn't feel like anything is about to fall out and it is simple to pull your gear out or return it to the bag. On the other hand, the handle is rather narrow and not positioned well. The build quality is solid, my Velocity 8x has held up well, and this seems similarly well built. The zipper on the main compartment operates smoothly. The zipper on the front compartment operates slightly less smoothly but does not catch or bind. Instead of having large flaps overhanging the zippers, the 8z has a tightly woven fabric welded to the zippers such that the teeth of the zipper aren't usually visible. The only problem that I've had with the build quality of the bag is that the strap keeper, the fabric loop that helps to tame the loose end of the strap, quickly frayed and broke. Now I just loop the loose end of the strap through the D-ring that attaches the strap to the bag. In the end, this is a sling bag that holds all the gear that I want to carry. It's just what I was looking for. If the handle had been put in a better position and the strap keep hadn't frayed, this would have been a t-star bag.
