No Complaints

I have this 2TB Lacie hard drive and their 4TB one, and I haven't experienced any issues. It runs well when I'm using Adobe Photoshop & Lightroom. The rugged bumper feature is a necessity as well, so overall it's good quality.

Terrible drive, unlike previous versions

This drive is extremely unreliable and slow. My new macbook pro always has a hard time detecting it. I brought two of these and both the drives behave the same. I did not have this issue with older versions of Lacie. In fact, my laptop still detects the older version alright. This drive is not suitable for any sort of professional work.

great product! I've felt more comfortable traveling with this hard drive than any I've owned. Great storage, and since it's still hard drive technology the price isn't too bad. Only thing I wish is that the transfer speeds were snappier and that it were an SSD, so in the future I'll probably look at the SSD options.

Works as advertised

Love it!

Reliable, lots of storage, easy to use. I use this to store catalogs and old sessions as an added extra backup for my clients. It is reliable and simple to use!

Can I transfer my 4K videofiles from Sony FX6 to LaCie when I am out in the forest?
Asked by: Tor Arve
No. You can record video files from the FX6 to an Atomos Recorder or similar recorder, but not directly to an SSD hard drive, like a few other cameras can do, but it really depends on what type of forest youre in.

Whats the difference between usb 3.1 gen 1 type-c vs usb 3.1 gen 1 micro-b?
Asked by: Stanislav
The difference is the connector that is on the drive itself. The USB Type C model has a Type C connector which is more durable and reversible. The USB Micro B variant has a USB 3.0 Micro B connector which is not as good as Type C. The actual speed on the drives is exactly the same.

Can you easily transfer files from USB 2.0 connections, and will 3.0 files transfer easily to 2.0 USB's on computer?
Asked by: Roger
USB 3.0 is compatible to USB 2.0. If you have a USB 2.0 port on your computer, you will use the USB 3.0 Type-C to Type-A cable for compatibility. Transferring a file to a 2.0 port will be the same concept as a USB 3.0 port. However, the hard drive will downgrade to a USB 2.0 speed.
