The Oben AC-1441 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-111 Ball Head provides reliable support for DSLRs, point-and-shoot cameras or video cameras up to 11 lb.

The tripod's three-section legs are fabricated from high tensile strength aluminum. It rises to a maximum height of 61.6" with the center column fully extended and folds down to a compact 21.3" for transport. Flip locks on the legs facilitate rapid setup and break down. Three leg angles: normal (80°), low (55°) and extra low (24°) are available via angle adjustment tabs at the joint of each leg. You can reverse the column with a twist of the butterfly knob or split it in two and use the short column for macro and low angle shooting as low as 8.3" from the ground. Any combination of leg angles can be combined to accommodate uneven terrain, stairs or obstructions. A built-in bubble level helps you square up your compositions. For extra stability, the center column employs a spring-loaded counterbalance hook.

The included BA-111 ball head features a single-action knob that controls its rotation and 360 degree panning while a robust ball-locking mechanism secures it solidly. The head's four bubble levels ensure accurate panoramas. The BA-111's built-in quick release comes with a camera plate that features a standard 1/4"-20 screw and a retractable, removable video pin to provide additional stability for camcorders. Since the head is removable, locking screws underneath the collar thwart torsion when re-attaching. The tripod comes with a carry case and shoulder strap for storage and transport.

A spring-loaded counterweight hook is located at the bottom of the center column. The column can be separated into two parts to give you a short column for low angle and macro work
Leg cushions on two legs provide a firm grip in cold or wet weather
Two included hex keys attach to a tripod leg, so you're always ready to tighten components
Padded carry bag provides a snug fit for the tripod/head combination and features two heavy-duty zippers, an interior pocket with a zipper, and a shoulder strap
Angle adjustment locks keep legs at the chosen angles
Center column is grooved to prevent rotation
Angled rubber feet for maximum contact with the ground
Tripod features reversible 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 screw to fit almost any head

AC-1441 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-111 Ball Head is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 84.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy ball head tripod with levels under $200 with bag I've never owned a professional-grade tripod until this year - and really like my upgrade. Pardon my lack of technical jargon...I was accustomed to tripods with a plastic stabilizer that connected the 3 legs and slid down the middle, limiting the angle; no levels, and limited range of motion without the ball head joint. This sturdy tripod has a great build quality (solid aluminum body, nice legs, ball head locks into place well), and has two options to expand the leg angle. Even the leg locks are more durable than what I've had in the past. If you're getting into photography, this < $200 tripod is worth the investment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall nice tripod Really nice tripod in the $ range. After looking at a bunch of options locally I went with this one based on the reviews and was not disappointed. Definitely the sturdiest tripod I looked at in this range, has a nice ball head which locks securely. A little heavier than some of the cheap flimsy options or the more expensive higher-tech options. I fully expect this won't be my last tripod, but its a good all-around option for my first tripod. One complaint about the ball head--to pan requires unlocking the ball, which of course means the camera can move in any direction.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Better Than I Expected I got this tripod with the 7d mark ii as an B&H EDU deal. I had very low expectations, already owning a Gitzo carbon fiber tripod with no center column. I was impressed with some of the features at this price point. The carrying bag is a nice extra and very nicely made for the price, including a shoulder strap. I recently took it with me on a trip to Milwaukee and took some night shots of the city. I couldn't fit my other tripod in my bag and it was a much more reasonable size for traveling. I took up to 30 second exposures and was suprised to get sharp results. It is a bit short without raising the center column, which can be limiting in framing the shot exactly how you want without compromising stability. The legs feel pretty thin and the tripod head and quick release plate are smaller than I would like. I also wish that the ball head had a seperate knob for panning and loosening the head. I would not advise putting very much weight on it, but for a DSLR and a lighter lens it works just fine. Overall, it is not bad for a first tripod on a budget, or as a cheap travel tripod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong and sturdy I am always concerned with buying things like tripods online, not able to handle it first and feel safe with it supporting the weight of my camera. However this tripod didn't dissapoint. It feels very sturdy, even extended to full hight, and the fast release is very secure, needing both levers pused to remove. This is important for a ball head tripod, so your camera doesn't just fall off at strange angles. It also has a hook to add more weight, say if you have a longer lense that may unbalance you. It also has levels for any possible angle you could be at, so you know you are center and really getting the best support. Definitely worth the cost!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I wanted and expected I bought this to replace my cheapo Manfrotto tripod, which was blown over by the wind during a long exposure. This tripod is an excellent replacement, it's much more stable, and the ability to spread the legs out extra-wide lets me get the camera very low to the ground with excellent stability. It's the perfect weight for my purposes, and the ball head and quick release are easy to use while wearing gloves. The foam coverings on 2 of the legs make it easier to grab without gloves on in the cold, no more getting my skin stuck to the metal! Excellent tripod, couldn't really ask for more for the price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tripod: Works brilliantly! The tripod is fairly lightweight; had no problem lugging it up a steep mountain. Incredibly adjustable. The three sets of levels came in use more than I anticipated. The reversible stem allowed me to get some great low shots while doing timelapses. Overall great product. Only complaint would be the quick release has a tendency to loosen from the camera. Hasn't been a major problem, may need be easy to fix. The ball and socket movement does not make it ideal for video panning, but can get the job done if in a pinch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic First Tripod! I bought this tripod because I wanted to be able to shoot some long exposure photos to capture water in motion and landscapes at really low light levels. For the price, I could not be more pleased. This tripod is small and light enough to be easily carried while hiking. The included case makes this a lot easier. The tripod has a solid build while still being very light. The leg warmers are a great touch as well. The legs can independently extend to three different angles, which is incredibly useful for uneven terrain in the outdoors. I was initially a little concerned about how small the ball-head is, but after testing it out, I am no longer worried about it. Though small, the ball head is extremely sturdy and had no trouble holding my T2i with its battery grip and Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 lens. So far, I have no reason to doubt that the ball-head will keep my camera safe and secure. I also love the quick release mechanism. The lever to release the QR plate has a second lever attached to it, which requires you to squeeze the levers together before you can release the plate. This isn't difficult at all, and I can do it easily with one hand, but it prevents any accidental release of the QR plate. Also, the QR mechanism locks in the open position when you remove the plate, and when you insert the plate again, you simply press down a little bit and the lever snaps into the locked position. This is SO much easier than any other QR mechanism I have used before! In summary, I am very happy with this tripod. It is a great option for someone beginning to use tripods for the first time, or, I would think, a more established photographer who wants a basic travel tripod on a budget.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great beginner tripod The AC-1441 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-111 Ball Head by Oben feels very sturdy. It extends to a more then acceptable length. however, the ball head is a bit weird to use at first. The removable center column is a bit clumsy to remove but gets the job done. It also have a great range of tilt in the tripod legs to a full 90 degrees. It is also surprisingly light but sturdy, very durable, and well made compared to other tripods made in this price range.
