Polsen HPS-A40 Overview

  • 1Description

The Polsen HPS-A40 Headphones provide musicians, DJs, and music enthusiasts with a unique solution for fine-tuning their listening experience with a choice of three different bass levels. A three-step bass adjustment switch on each driver allows you to adjust the low-end frequencies to your taste, with less bass for clearer vocals and speech or more bass to add dimension and depth to your music.

The headphones have a construction that feels solid in your hands and their stylish lines give off a sense of style, sure to please the modern audiophile. A padded headband and thick, replaceable ear cushions ensure that the headphones stay firmly in place on your head, while providing a comfortable fit for extended listening sessions.

The HPS-A40 headphones feature 40mm neodymium drivers, which produce powerful bass and achieve the right amount of sound pressure. Great for precision listening in loud environments, the circumaural, closed-back design fully seals the earcups against your head to attenuate unwanted external noise and prevent leakage. Both earcups swivel 90° to allow easy placement on one ear when DJing or for musicians doing a quick level check.

The headphones ship with a single-sided, detachable cable, a 3.5mm to 1/4" adapter, and a protective bag.

    Polsen HPS-A40 Reviews

HPS-A40 Headphones with 3-Level Bass Adjustment is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect home studio headphones Where these headphones distinguish themselves above any previous ones Ive owned, quite a few, is in the comfort department. Ill be wearing them for long periods of time and pretty much forget theyre on. The fit is snug and theyre not sliding around or pressing too tight. Absolutely essential. The clarity of the sound is top notch for their price. They give the full spectrum and are super well balanced. Im not a sound engineer but I really appreciate the clarity of the bass with these. Its not overwhelming or muddled. Im using them in my home studio; listening to music and editing. The cable is super durable, maybe a little long but removable, easy to wrap up and put away.   [I received this product in exchange for my honest review.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from COMFY FIT and GREAT SOUND I personally use some Sennheisers, Ultrasones and Beats for my use.  I will say that these are more similar to my Sennheiser HD 280 pros including the price point.  These are really lightweight but do not feel cheap.  One great thing about these compared to the Sennheisers is that you can detach the headphone cord!  Sounds simple but it can be really annoying at times especially when all my other headphones do it.  Another thing I really like is the fit.  The headband is really narrow in comparison to all my other headphones aside from the beats.  Most have a circular arc while this has more of an oval arc in the headband.  This makes it look a lot more sleek on your head instead of looking like you have a super bulky headphone on.  I wear my other over the ear headphones in the office or studio.  I would actually wear these out and about.  The cushions are also comfortable and I have not noticed any unusual discomfort when wearing them for longer periods.  The sound is pretty clear with an adjustable bass switch in each ear cup.  The bass at its max is not really heavy but it does help balance out the sound when you want the little bit of extra bump.  The middle and first section would probably be better for classical or long listening sessions where you do not want too much ear fatigue.  The sound seem pretty neutral to me without too much low or highs.  They are very clear in all settings and I did not find them to be too harsh or over sibilant in the highs with all the sources that I listened to and my ears are pretty sensitive.  For better bass you could always put them on the highest setting and burn them in for a few hours or so off your head.  I would love these in a wireless version.  It comes with a protective pouch and a decent length cord with a 1/8 to 1/4 adapter.  If you are looking for a headphone to completely fold away or flip the ear cups around for DJing then these are not it.  The cups do twist to wear you can pack these away flat in a bag though.  I have two sets of POLSEN wired lavs that work well too.   [I received this product in exchange for my honest review.]
