A truly versatile wide-angle zoom featuring an advanced optical design and constant f/4 maximum aperture, the Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM Lens is a member of the esteemed L-series of lenses designed for full-frame EOS DSLRs. One Super UD element and one UD element offer a significant reduction in chromatic aberrations while four aspherical elements help to minimize distortions throughout the zoom range and provide consistent edge-to-edge sharpness and illumination. Both SWC and ASC coatings have been applied to the elements in order to reduce lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color accuracy. Ideally suited for landscape and architectural photography, this lens covers ultra-wide to wide-angle perspectives and backs up its versatile zoom range with sophisticated optical components and intuitive handling.

In regard to focusing performance, a ring-type Ultrasonic Motor offers fast, smooth, and near-silent autofocus, which is further benefitted by full-time manual focus operation and an internal focusing design. The lens is both water and dust-resistant, and fluorine coatings have also been applied to the front and rear elements to protect against fingerprints and smudges from affecting image quality.

Wide-angle zoom 11-24mm f/4 lens is compatible with full-frame Canon EF-mount DSLRs, as well as APS-C-sized models where it will provide a 17.6-38.4mm equivalent focal length range.
Constant f/4 maximum aperture offers consistent performance and light transmission throughout the zoom range.
One Super Ultra Low Dispersion and one ultra-low dispersion element help to significantly reduce chromatic aberrations for improved clarity and color accuracy.
Four aspherical elements help to minimize distortions throughout the zoom range in order to maintain edge-to-edge sharpness and illumination.
Both a Subwavelength Coating (SWC) and an Air Sphere Coating (ASC) have been applied to lens elements to reduce backlit flaring and ghosting for maintained light transmission and high contrast in strong lighting conditions.
A ring-type Ultrasonic Motor (USM), along with an internal focusing system, high-speed CPU, and optimized AF algorithms, are employed to deliver fast, precise, and near-silent autofocus performance as well as full-time manual focus override.
As a member of the esteemed L-series, this lens is sealed against dust and moisture for working in inclement environmental conditions.
Protective fluorine coating has been applied to the front bulbous element to resist fingerprints and smudges and to make cleaning significantly easier.
Lens's design accepts rear insert-type gelatin filters, which are cut-to-size and inserted behind the rear lens element.

EF 11-24mm f/4L USM Lens is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 79.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I don't want competitors to have it. This lens is easy to use and delivers stunning Super Ultra Wide Shots. I'm a pro real estate photographer and a lens like this is an advantage in many ways. First it's actually easier to frame with at 11mm than my 2.8 16-35 L. Second, it allows me to be very creative with shots that you can't accomplish with a 16mm lens. Third, it focus's quickly and accuratly and has surprisingly little chromatic aberration from hot contrast spots like windows against a window frame with bright light coming thru. Fourth, I love how stable it feels in your hands because of it's size and weight. For me, it's a home run.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Once Learned, You'll Not Let Go I have to say, when I set this lens up properly, either for real estate work or landscaping, I marvel at the results. As others have said, not alining the lens on a true vertical plane means having to crop the edges to remove the distortion or re-shoot the frame. My love of first the 16-35 2.8, then it's lighter, less expensive replacement (and, yes, it does replace it), the 16-35 4.0 IS, remains strong and I continue to use these lenses due to their forgiving nature (and better depiction of small spaces). But, the 11-24 is almost every use has proved itself my front-line lens for just about everything. Is is worth the price? Yes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Photos so sharp you'll cut your eyes. I shoot real estate professionally. Upgradingfrom the Tamron 15-30, I wasn't sure this pricey lens would be worth it. The low amount of barrel distortion was my primary interest, as it would help speed up my editing time considerably. I thought my tamron was a great lens until I tried this baby out. It's insanely crisp from edge to edge. My tamron would go soft away from the center. While I rarely shoot wider than 14mm (any more distorts interiors to a ridiculous degree), this focal length, along with f/8 is the camera's sweet spot for clarity, and I believe, only 2% barrel distortion at that focal length. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stellar wide angle solution I've always lusted after the Nikon 14-24mm . Canon needed a wide angle solution to compete with this amazing Nikon glass. The Canon 11-24mm is the wide solution pros have waited for and more. The build quality is just spectacular! So solid, smooth focus and zoom. The image quality is remarkable. I never thought I'd need wider than 14mm but in some situations its nice to have. I have no complaints about the lens at all. Yes, the price is a bit high but if a 14mm 2.8L II is $2k then 3k is not too bad for the 11-24mm. I've only had the lens for a week but I'm very impressed so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the all-time great lenses Picked up the 11-24 at the Post Office; took few shots of the steering wheel; and drove right into the Talkeetna mountains. Having used fisheyes for year I thought I would know what to do with an 11mm rectilinear...but this lens is different. My instant favorite lens for off-trail Alaska landscapes. Image quality and sharpness are excellent. Distortion is very low. Makes incredible panoramas that don't look stretched out. Heavy...but it's also a 20, 17, 14,13 and 12mm! Once in my hands weight doesn't matter! Use the 11mm most but love the zoom!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lens I do architectural photography had I had been using this lens for over three weeks in difference jobs. This lens it is outstanding the optic quality, the excellent construction and the wide coverage at 11mm aloud to take photos that before were not possible unless a panoramic was done. Any distortion is minor in comparison with other lenses the 16-35 or the 17-40 and much better chromatic aberration control. The lens is heavy but do not bother me I always use a tripod. It is pricy but you get what you pay for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Things that are great about it Have used this lens in several different applications. The San Diego Skyline taken from the fifth floor of the Hilton Bayfront Hotel without obstructions gave a complete a complete skyline and a generous portion of the Bay. Also, used the lens for a vertical isolated picture of the hotel. Very clean from the ground to above the clear skyline using the EOS 5D Mark III. I have missed this capability until now. Looking forward to using this lens on a 14-day float trip on the Yukon River in the Yukon Territory this coming July. Worth every penny in this investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharper than the 14mm F2.8L II!!! This thing is HUGE. Like really really big. Absolutely dwarfs the 14mm F2.8L II and the 24mm F1.4L II. It's almost twice as heavy as those lenses too. The lens cap is comically big. BUT all said and done, it's ridiculous size is for a reason. It is extremely sharp at all ends and somehow has even less chromatic aberration than the 14mm F2.8L II. I did a full comprehensive review of it here. ------------------------------
