WD Home Duo External HDD Overview

Add 8TB of USB 3.0 cloud storage to your Windows, Mac, iOS, or Android device in a 2 x 4TB configuration with the My Cloud Home Duo 8TB 2-Bay Personal Cloud NAS Server from WD. The My Cloud Home Duo provides a one-stop solution for saving digital content, backing up photos and videos on your phone, and wirelessly backing up and syncing your Windows and Mac computers with cloud accounts. This personal storage device plugs directly into your Wi-Fi router using its Gigabit Ethernet port so you can access, upload, and share photos and videos using the My Cloud Home apps for mobile, desktop, and web platforms, as well as stream videos using Plex Media Server. This NAS supports RAID functionality. It comes pre-configured in RAID 1, which mirrors the data on one drive to the other for 1:1 data redundancy, but at the cost of performance. It may also be configured as RAID 0, which provides performance gains, but no data redundancy.

The My Cloud Home Duo is powered by a 1.4 GHz Realtek RTD1295PB-CG A53 Quad-Core processor and 1GB of DDR3L RAM. It operates on 90-260 VAC at 47-63 Hz and includes an Ethernet cable and an AC adapter. It is compatible with Windows 10, 8.1, 8, and 7, macOS Sierra (10.12), El Capitan (10.11), Yosemite (10.10), iOS 9 and 10, and Android KitKat (4.4), Lollipop (5.x), Marshmallow (6.0), and Nougat (7.x).

Works great. Exactly like it is supposed to. I just wish the android app worked as fast as the Apple app.

Set and forget - well worth the money

Great device, once set up to sync, it's set and forget. The one quibble I have, and this is because I'm a long time professional IT person, its that it's a little annoying to map a drive letter for direct access, but that's easily worked around.

Customer service and support was key for me to get my Home Duo up and running. Recent changes to apps had me unsure how to set up the unit, and customer support helped me through the new way to use the device.

My old MyCloud was no longer being supported so I purchased the WD 8TB Cloud Home Dou. It arrived on time, easy to install and seamlessly was able to copy my old data to my new Cloud. My old cloud was 4 TB so I bought the 8 TB to have autobackup.

Acronis not compatible with MyCloud.

While the hardware is ok the instructions are horrible. Also, I have used Acronis in the past successfully. I was unable to get this new version to work with MyCloud. After about an hour on the phone the support guy checked with someone. He came back and told me the Acronis is incompatible with MyCloud. Figure that one out.

Awful Service

Western Digital sent a drive that didn't work after an online call with their technician. I was told to send the drive back to receive a refund. Western Digital received my returned drive almost 1 month ago and still hasn't refunded my money. Their excuse is a problem with their cloud. That's their business and what does that have to do with a refund. Very disappointed. Never buy Western Digital!

WD backup still not working

I bought a WD Cloud Home Duo, and after nearly a month it has not been possible to get it working as a backup drive used by Time Machine on my MacBook Pro. None of your techs have been able to come up with a solution to something that should be completely simple. I am now traveling until February 15, and will have to wait until then to try again. This is NOT a good result.
