Oben GH-30 Reviews

What a great price for a solid Gimbal Head

I use this with a a Tamron 150-600mm, 70-200mm, and either a Canon 80D or Canon R7. It seems very solid and the motion is very smooth for Birding or Astrophotography. Holds the camera/Lens at any angle and easy to move for shooting the moon where you need to re-frame every few minutes. On sale, it's a great buy.

Have been wanting a gimbal set up for a while, but didnt want to start out with the big $ ones, This is a nice product, operates smoothly, and holds my 150-600 with no issues. Very nice for a entry to mid level gimbal.

Love It

So glad I jumped on this, works great with my 6D and Tamron 150-600. Wish I would have bought it sooner.

This gimbal head is okay. The left and right doesn't hold tight enough for me. It moves even if I use a remote. It's okay as being strong enough.

Impressed so far.

Just got it and got to try it on flying birds today and WOW it did exactly what I wanted it to do.

Excellent tripod gear addition

The pan & tilt tripod head was cumbersome, limited, and slow to use with the 70-200 zoom, even more so when affixing a 2x extender, making the set-up unwieldy. The Oben GH-30 solved all of this. The set up is solid and secure, easy setup, and providing greater, faster, easier range of motion for composing and capturing the shot.

What a great head!

It's fantastic using a gimbal head for the first time. Excellent quality and best head I've ever purchase for my Oben (OBCFT3694) carbon fiber tripod. I'm absolutely happy!!!

What is the process for removing the gimbal head from a tripod?
Asked by: Tom
It is the same as you would attach any other tripod head. What I have done is use the Manfrotto 625 (3296) RC0 Hexagonal Quick Release Adapter and added the Manfrotto 130-14 Hexagonal Quick Release Plate (Flat Bottomed) with 1/4"-20 Screw on each of my tripod heads so I only have to carry one tripod but can quickly change tripod heads in the field. I have several tripod heads, the Oben Gimblal head, Acratech Ball head and an Arca Swiss Mono Ball. Depending on the demands of the situation I can easily switch tripod heads to fit my needs.

Will this gimbal work with a slik 500 dx tripod? Do I need an attachment?
Asked by: Juan A
After extensive research to match my situation - hiking trails in search of new birds in Panama,Cuba, Costa Rica, etc and my gear weight and age, I finally chose Oben GH-30 Gimbal Head with Sirui T-S Series Tripod. The mounting platform and screw are standard/ universal. They interface with the Oben GH-40 Gimbal Head perefectly. There should be no problem.
