ASUS VivoBook E403NA overview

  • 1Description

The 14" VivoBook E403NA Notebook from Asus is a compact and portable system with an all-day battery, ideal for users who are constantly on-the-go. Additionally, thanks to its fanless design, it runs silently so you can work quietly in coffee shops and libraries. Powered by a 1.1 GHz Intel Celeron N3350 dual-core processor and 4GB of DDR3 RAM, it can efficiently multitask and quickly access frequently used files and programs. For storage, it has 64GB of built-in eMMC storage. While storage space may be limited, you can connect external storage solutions using its multiple USB ports, one of which features the reversible Type-C interface, as well as its SD media card reader.

Its 14" display, driven by integrated Intel HD graphics, has a 1920 x 1080 resolution for crisp and clear playback of Full HD content. When needed, you can use its HDMI port to connect an additional display for larger viewing and enhanced multitasking. Other integrated features include a webcam, speakers, a microphone, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, and a mic/headphone combo jack. The operating system installed is Windows 10 Home (64-Bit).

Enhanced Touchpad
The touchpad on this notebook is built with smartphone screen-like technology for an accurate and responsive experience.
Clear, Immersive Audio
This VivoBook is equipped with dual high-quality speakers with 9cc speaker chambers under the palm rest that direct sound towards you, so you can enjoy music, videos, movies, and more.
All-Day Battery Life
With up to 12 hours of battery life depending on use, the VivoBook E403NA is capable of keeping up with your daily tasks, even when you're on-the-go without a charger.
Fanless Low Noise Design
Built without a cooling fan, the VivoBook E403NA dissipates heat passively for silent operation.

Windows 10

Start Menu
After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.
Cortana
Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her Notebook, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information gathering skills.
Microsoft Edge
After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With Microsoft Edge, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.
Windows Store
For Windows 10, Microsoft has unified the Windows Store. Now, apps for PCs, tablets, and phones will all be accessible from one place. And with support for Universal Apps, one version of an app can work across all your compatible devices automatically.
Windows Continuum
Windows 10 was designed for a variety of screen sizes and input styles, and with its Continuum feature, it automatically adapts to fit your needs. A Windows 10 tablet on its own requires a touch-centric approach, but attaching a mouse and keyboard will shift everything to a more traditional interface. You can even attach an external monitor to your Windows 10 phone for a near-desktop experience. But it's not just the operating system; Windows Universal Apps take advantage of Continuum as well.
Xbox on Windows 10
Gaming is a big focus of Windows 10. Xbox integration allows for PC players to match up against Xbox One players on supported games, and if you have an Xbox One, you can even stream compatible titles to your PC. Native support for recording with the new Game DVR feature makes it easy to capture and share your gameplay. The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.

    ASUS VivoBook E403NA reviews

    14" VivoBook E403NA Notebook is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not happy with the SD slot Spent several hours fooling with this to get all updates for Windows 10 and resolve no audio problem. Fixed audio by removing the installed audio drivers and downloading and installing drivers from ASUS website. This would have been a nightmare or no go for a person with limited PC skills. In addition, the 64gb sd card I bought to expand the memory does not slide completely flush into the laptop, protruding about 3/4-inches out of the laptop, and therefore cannot remain in the laptop continuously. That is very disappointing to me and a poor design imo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good enough for our 2nd grader A bit upsetting the one we bought (cheaper version) came without fingerprint scanner as pictured (maybe it comes with 400$ one). Other than that, the machine is great - just remove Vendor junk and IE, it is fairly fast and more than enough for our kid. The screen is not too bright (could probably be too dim for someone) but 1080P and mate, which is great - can't stand glossy. Keyboard is awesome, ports, etc - and metal hull which was indeed surprising to see. It does not feel cheap! At 1/10 of macbook cost what's not to like? And dealing with BH is easy, nothing has changed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bang for the buck. If you use this notebook as Cromebook, just to surf the web then you got it made. This notebook does not fast enough and have enough HD for a regular laptop processing. It has more SSHD (64G) than HP Stream (only 32G) and both has the same price. Once you receive this notebook you should set the power option to timing of your need, that's all you need to do the rest is straight forward. I use this mainly for web surfing and travel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value Boots quickly and runs Office and browsing software well, which is what I needed. Battery life is very good -- while I haven't run it out, it appears that a full charge will provide 10 hours or more use. Screen is adequate, especially at this price point, and provides plenty of room to work. The webcam is grainy, but I don't use it much anyway. Very light for its size. Overall, great value for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible bargain I don't know what most people would need anything more than what this laptop offers. Bought it to replace my old "travel laptop". It's light, thin, looks cool, and does all I need, which is mostly word processing, Internet stuff, and picture editing. And the price is RIDICULOUSLY cheap. There must be a reason people pay 2 or 4 or 10 times as much for a laptop, but I have no idea what that might be.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Maybe Ours Was a Lemon We are returning this to B&H because the screen flashes off and on, sometimes reluctant to come on at all, and it is hard to turn the computer on. Maybe ours is a lemon. Other than this, it is a lightweight basic notebook that my wife, who is not computer savvy, uses for email, watching Netflix, talking to the kids, etc. If it had worked correctly, it would have been fine especially for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultimate travel machine Five years ago my wife and I bought the 11.5" (1366 x 768) previous model w/ a 32GB SSD. We've both taken it often on our trips and we both check our mail over coffee with it every morning. So when this new 14" (1920x1024) model w/ a 64GB SSD came out, we couldn't resist. Machine is solid, beautiful, lightweight, fine keyboard (w/ Home, End, PgUp, PgDn down the right hand side as full-sized keys and a T cursor key pad below), and display is crisp and bright (of course, on battery, you have to crank up the brightness setting). Pleasingly fast (cold boots to Windows 10 in 5 seconds). FIRST, after initial boot, you need to change the plugged-in power setting to NEVER sleep, in order to download and install the newest Windows 10 release and patches (otherwise it sleeps and the updates fails). After installing a dozen common small apps and MS Office, there's 27GB free on the SSD. We always take full backups of our main laptops on external drives when we travel. Works great. CAUTION: The recommended Ruggard 14" sleeve just barely fits! Buy a 15" sleeve or case instead for this laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great laptop for a great price This laptop is perfect for people looking for an affordable device for browsing, Youtube, HD movies, office usage. It boots within 25 seconds even with secondary applications installed, has around 30 GB of free storage, and is leightweight and thin. Why spend more if you can have it all for this price?
