The black On-Stage LPT7000 is a deluxe laptop stand designed to hold equipment weighing up to 12 pounds. This stand is perfect for my needs. It is small enough but study so I don't worry about my laptop. Folds up nicely.

I purchased this stand because I don’t have room for a desk and needed to be able to work comfortably from home on my 17 inch laptop. It adjusts to the perfect height for sitting or standing. I would recommend keeping it at a lower height. It becomes less stable the taller it gets. When I’m done, I fold it up and stow it away. I wouldn’t recommend this for traveling with unless you have a car. It doesn’t come with a case and it’s a bit heavy for long distance carrying. It has a sticky surface for if you want extra security. I would recommend this item.

I work in an industrial facility and often need to connect laptops to various controllers (PLC's) and motor drives (VFD's). I have used the On-Stage and its corresponding unit from Auray, and both of them work great. The On-Stage is a little lighter, which makes a difference when packing it up the stairs. There is adhesive below the clear plastic on the top, and I left the plastic in place. Also, beware of pinch hazards when setting up the base.

I feel the stand is strong, though compact, Legs stick out a little, might trip and knock over .It comes with a sticky film on top of the tray Dont know the purpose of the plastic tape it will just peel off in time Legs tripod dont close up to store I Think I will be happy with it.

Can you remove the platform from the stand? If so, what mount does the platform have on it?

Yes, the platform can be removed from the stand. There are four screws that hold it in place. If you look at the third photo, you can see how they are attached. The piece that the platform rests on is flat and squared, but the manufacturer has not provided any dimensions for this piece.
