I use it with Apple Adapter to energize TB2 to TB3 cable

The Apple adapter only connects from TB3 host to TB2 device. This device energizes a TB3 device downstream as well as up to 2 M.2 drives. 15W upstream and 15W downstream can be provided and 1, 2 or zero drives can be installed while still providing power. The M.2 drives are independent of each other (unless Extended in Disk Management, I suspect). I use it with a Windows PC. Mine arrived without documentation-not a single word !! The Netstor website has some info and videos are online.

Easy to setup but a bit ugly.

I almost didn’t buy it because of the color but it’s just a silicone cover that I ended up taking off. Easy to install and I’m running Raid 0 on a MacBook Pro. So far I’d have no problem buying another one if I needed it.

Even my friends with hot Windows machines drop their jaws in awe when they see the results of the Blackmagic disk speed test from this drive and the contents I installed: two 1TB 970 EVO M.2 SSDs installed as Raid 0 on my 2018 Macbook Pro's Thunderbolt 3 port. Write speed: 1634 megabytes/sec; read 2259 MB/s. Video editing now flies.

Yes, crazy fast external storage is now a thing

I was looking for a relatively small NVMe enclosure to add to my 2018 MacBook Pro primarily for backing-up my internal SSD.  I wanted something fast with flexibility, and this definitely offers it.  With a Crucial SSD P1 (CT1000P1SSD8), I see TimeMachine back-ups that speed along at roughly 3 GB/s, even when connected to my MBP via a Thunderbolt 3 dock.  (The initial back-up took hours, primarily for the encryption stage, but subsequent back-ups are quick.)  My only compliant (which is minor) is that the fan is always on (either at slow or fast speed), which makes the enclosure noisier than Id prefer.  But since I typically power down the drive when Im not taking a back-up, the noise isnt a big deal for me. Go ahead and get this.  Youll be glad that you did.

Ultra fast performance.

Installed a pair of SSD M.2 Kingston SKC1000 in Raid 0 and get more than 2,000 MB/S read speed. Awesome!

You must own this!!

The product is fantastic and the price point is much to the consumer's advantage! I purchased two of them. I put a pair of 2TB Samsung 970 EVO PLUS NVMe SSD sticks in each and I am loving the experience. And Netstor's support department is extremely impressive! Seriously, after over 30 years being tech consumer, I have no hesitation saying the support there is SUPERIOR!

Excellent speed and almost perfect setup

Set this up as a working drive to edit and colour correct 4K DPX film scans in Resolve. Running two Sabrent 2TB Rocket NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 in Raid 0 and everything is running smoothy without lag so far. One of the mounting screws was cross threaded and needed mini vice grips to remove, fortunately had a replacement on hand, not a great situation with delicate electronics but it worked out. Could use a bit more quality control on assembly. That said will likely buy one of their four bay versions this one has worked so well.

Does using 1 drive only achieve maximum speed? Or are 2 drives in RAID 0 required for maximum speed?
Asked by: Ciao
To take advantage of RAID 0, you need at least two drives. Using RAID 0 will improve the performance speed, you can accomplish on this enclosure with drives.

question

Can I use just one evo 960 or I need to plug 2 to use i?
Asked by: chrystian s.
I used 2 960 pro. But the first time, only one was recognised by my mac mini. I disassembled the enclosure and replugged the one not recognised. Then both were recognised. Though never tried using only one, but one improperly plugged should be the same.
