Compact yet fast, the Nokton Classic 35mm f/1.4 Lens from Voigtlander is a standard wide-angle prime designed for full-frame Sony E mirrorless cameras. Its classic wide focal length pairs with a bright f/1.4 maximum aperture to deliver notable control over depth of field for producing shallow depth of field imagery, and also benefits working in low-light conditions. Helping to achieve the lens's namesake Classic look, a symmetrical optical design is used, along with high refractive index glass, to produce sharp, clear imagery but with some intentional aberrations left to realize a smooth and vintage-esque character. The lens's manual focus design permits working with subjects as close as 11.8" away and the mount incorporates electronic contacts to relay Exif data and to make use of in-camera shooting and focus aids.

Voigtlander 35mm f/1.4 Nokton Classic Reviews
Great and compact 35mm
One the best manual 35mm lens
Great lens!
I've shot with this for a few weeks now and have been wonderfully impressed. As other reviews mention if crystal sharp is your game this lens might not be for you. It does however have personality, depth and character and is absolute joy to shoot with.
Sharp as a tack
This lens is built like a tank. Smooth focus is easy. Sharp as a tack. Manual focus errors may cause some to report that the lens is not sharp. Focus is precise using the focus range indicator, and on my Sony A7RII manual focus is a breeze.
Another Wonderful Voigtländer Lens!
I recently purchased the Voigtländer Nokton 35mm f/1.4 Classic and have been enjoying it immensely. Of course, this lens does not feature a modern aspherical design, and, because of this, it does produce certain characteristics—some would say, “flaws”—that might be off-putting to some photographers. These are quite well documented in the literature (spherical aberration; some barrel distortion; softness in corners; purple fringing; vignetting; “nervous” bokeh, etc.). But, in my opinion, none of these are not severe at all. In fact, in some measure, these are those same qualities that enable this lens to produce rich images that are both unique, striking and far from clinical or ordinary. I don’t agree with certain criticisms that have been leveled against this lens that purport a lack of sharpness—it is quite sufficiently sharp despite some softness in the very corners. I’ve now had the opportunity to use it in landscapes and have been more than pleased with its performance in this regard (generally when shot at f/4-f/8). The Classic is also very easy to focus when mounted on the Sony A7III. I highly recommend this lens to anybody who seeks to render a vintage, classic look and feel in their work. This is the second Voigtländer lens I have purchased from B&H and I look forward to receiving a third, shortly.
Overall decent lens but not great
I am very disappointed with the edge sharpness of this lens, the extreme edge never gets sharp even stop down to F8. Also Coma is pretty horrible, so not a lens for Astro, Another reason I purchased a F1.4 lens is for portrait, but this lens offer very nervous Bokeh. On the god side, it has a the typical Zeiss/Voigtlander built quality, focusing ring is very smooth, the lens feels just GREAT in my hands, it offer very good sunstar too.
Very good lens, solid lens body’s construction!
Voiglander hit it again! Good lens, solid body, nice feeling, clear and sharp pictures! And a unique sweet and beautiful color rendering! Nice skin tones! A+!
I love this lens
I picked up a used copy(sadly not from B&H), and it's great. Since it has some electronics in it, it communicates with the camera, despite fully a fully manual lens. This means not only does it have the correct exif data, but if you have magnification set up for manual focus it will punch in when you focus. This is AWESOME!
Beautiful build. Low success rate.
Fantastic build quality. Excellent for low light. If you focus carefully, you can get some good shots with great detail. I tried using zone focus at f/8 and f/11, and the success rate for acceptable focus was only about 20%. When I got an acceptable shot, the detail was very good and the classic character was nice. Unfortunately, the success rate is too low for my street photography, and I'm returning it. It's great doing business with B&H.
