Photoflex LiteDome Overview

  • 1Description

The Large LiteDome (34 x 45 x 24.5") consistently delivers even, natural light from your strobe unit. Its internal diffusion baffle eliminates extreme highlights and hotspots. The internal baffle and diffusion face are each easily removed, allowing you to go from soft, diffused lighting to high-contrast without changing your setup.

The patented Quick Release Corners (QRC) make setup and teardown a snap. LiteDome softboxes are compatible with optional grids, giving you great control over light direction. Loop hooks are sewn into the outside of the dome to allow for hanging the softbox from above using a block and tackle.

  • Removable face allows you to adjust the natural, soft light to create just the right diffusion and contrast
  • Softens the light source and eliminates the hot spot
  • Suspension loops hang the softbox without a boom
  • Optional grids attach to the face to create different effects
  • Carry bag included for easy storage and transport
  • Quick Release Corners (QRC) for easy removal of rods

    Photoflex LiteDome Reviews

    Large LiteDome (34 x 45 x 24.5") is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from 15% smaller than 36x48 Softbox has great quality construction, but is not 36x48. It is 31x42.When I call Photoflex customer service, they just give me the run-around and say they get quite a few of these complaints every year. The guy then asked me to write to his sales dept, (instead of him doing his job and relaying the message himself), to let the sales dept. know about the discrepancy. I call that being lazy and dishonest.Photoflex tries to cut corners on amount of materials they use, hoping customers won't notice. I consider this very dishonest and will never buy another Photoflex product again....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good fast and Cheap. There is a saying bounded round the industry. Good fast and cheap you can have 2 of 3 but not all three. Well this is a product that comes closer than most to being all 3. I personaly use this unit on my battery location strobes. At low light times sunset and civil twilight it fills without overpowering and I wind up with beautiful images. They are also very light so I can have assistants holding them with little effort. Additionally they can be clamped to all sorts of places you would never get away with a heavier unit. It is easy to pull diffusion and change modifaction to suit your needs as well. The only thing I find with these is they can be tempremental to get back in the bags..... ok any maybe they wear out a little sooner than other products but I really do enjoy using them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for nice softbox I mostly use Chimera medium super softboxes which are the same size as this one, but when it came down to buying for myself, I chose this because of the features and the price. The fabric might not be as sturdy as the Chimera, but functionally, this is identical with similar light quality. I've only shot with it a few times, but I'm certain this will last quite a while for me. No more running around to the rental houses. Great value here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I would buy again I needed to add additional soft boxes to my studio lighting and Photoflex are well made yet light weight. They are not the most expensive product you can purchase but the quality is outstanding. I also purchased the grids to attach to the front to provide more directional light.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good starter lightbox Pretty versatile for its size, making it a good softbox to start with. Nice build and the corner flaps are sometimes helpful when tearing down. Only minus is the sheer size and depth of it, it limits how high it can be placed in small rooms.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well done! I use the softbox in my basement studio with my Lumedyne 400ws portable light/power pack. shoots f/11 @ 200iso @200ws with the subject 5'away, with nice even soft white light.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Construction I just used this for the first time for portrait work attached to an alien bee unit with a special adapter ring. It is easy to assemble however getting the rods into the ring can be a little difficult. I had some difficulty and I am a strong male. Once together it is very rigid and of very solid construction while still light weight. Comes with a nice carrying case. It is of good size for a group portrait. I also bought the grid for it which was easy to install and works well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another great product I own several Photoflex products, and I've never been disappointed by them. This is another. It is well-built, but lightweight. This is my first softbox, so assembly was a challenge the first time. (Hint: It helps to read the instructions.) The quality of light is great, and I expect to be using it for a long time. Just a note, this a large softbox and it may need a heavy stand to balance it. I initially had it mounted on a light stand and it was a little tipsy.
