Robus RC-5570 Overview

  • 1Description

When your career depends on that next shot, you need a tripod that's much more than just three legs to stand on. Meeting and succeeding that need, we have the RC-5570 Vantage Series 3 Carbon Fiber Tripod, one of a series of tripods from Robus that delivers performance to satiate the most demanding image-makers, regardless of the conditions or terrain in the field. the 10x carbon fiber legs feature wide, stable leg tube diameters. Even at a maximum extension 70.1", these substantial cylinders combine with the tripod's anodized CNC-machined spider to support video or still camera rigs weighing up to 55 lb.

Shooting outdoors can definitely be a challenge especially when doing macro or close up photography on the ground. But with three variable leg angles of 25, 55, and 85°, plus independent leg spread, the tripod can be splayed out to a minimum height of just 4". The tripod's central spider features a lock to loosen the yoke and a safety pull latch that releases the finely machined top plate. This permits interchangeability with the included 75mm video bowl. There's also an optional center column available that extends the RC-5570's maximum height to 84.9".

A quarter turn of the tripod's twist-locks retracts the 4-section legs to a reasonable folded length of 25.4". Two of the legs have tactile rubber grips that ensure a secure hold as you carry the support from one place to another. Additionally, a 3/8"-16 socket at the end of each leg allows you to swap out the standard feet for the included spikes or wide rubber feet to accommodate different terrains and surfaces.

With a possible 84" reach, a 55 lb weight capacity, and a folded length of less than 26", the tripod's notable stability and performance-based features ensure its place as a favorite go-to-support solution for professionals and dedicated enthusiasts.

A finely machined top plate features a smooth anodized finish, and a chamfered leading edge for ease of installation, and a 3/8"-16 threaded head mount. The 75mm bowl is interchangeable with the top plate and mounts into the spider in the same fashion. There's also an optional center column available that extends the RC-5570's maximum height to 84.9".

    Robus RC-5570 Reviews

RC-5570 Vantage Series 3 Carbon Fiber Tripod is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best tripod i have ever owned in 35 years, just buy one! I am height challenged at 5’18” so i need something equal or better, and this towers over me when fully extended, with no wobbly center column to deal with. It comes with everything you could ask for, spikes, rubber feet, a video bowl, a very good carrying case, a dtatchable carrying strap, everyting that cost extra with my last two Gitzo systems. The build quality is outstanding, solid as a tripod i have ever used even at three times the price. I would like to thank Bryan Carnathan for his high recomendation, it met and exceeded my expectations. I really like the two foam leg coatings to keep my hands from freezing here in brutal Chicago! Just buy one...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nothing Cheap About This Tripod Other Than The Price! If youre looking for a pro-quality tripod that can do video and stills, look no further than the new Robus RC-5570 Tripod. I just got mine and have it matched to the Oben GH-30 gimbal. This tripod is pro-quality in EVERY way. While I have been using the GH-30 gimbal for a year, this is a new - beefier tripod for me which I need because I plan to do more serious video next year. The Robus comes with a nice carry bag, spikes for outdoors or non-slip pads for indoors, tools, instruction set and even a second base which provides a bowl for video style heads. This is a real Bargain! Cost as much as half some other pro tripods. Theres nothing cheap about this tripod other than the price. Its very well built and every detail is attended to. I cant believe how well this tripod works for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb alternative to the Gitzo GT3543 XLS I started the great tripod search about a month ago.  Ordered the Gitzo GT3543 XLS, upon recommendation of Hudson Henry.  He has a great video about this tripod.  The tripod arrived with thick dust on the outside of the actual tripod box, and the twist grips had white residue (greasy) on them.  Not a great first impression. So, did a bit more research and came up with the Robus RC-5570.  Ordered and compared to the Gitzo.  Very comparable indeed!  Nearly as tall, nearly as stable, definitely not as expensive(!)  Seriously, this tripod is every bit as well built as the Gitzo, and I like some of the material used even better.  The Robus RC-5570 is VERY solid and stable.  With regard to materials used, fit, finish etc., it looks and performs like a $1,000 tripod, at the price of $550.   I compared the Robus to the Benro TMA 38 CL too.  The Benro was truly disappointing.  Very unstable, felt incredibly cheaply made in comparison, and the Robus is only $165 more, for 10X the quality and performance.       I highly recommend checking out the Robus products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbelievable!!! A true alternative to Really Right Stuff and Gitzo legs.  Honestly, I was expecting to give up a little compared to the big brands but I actually think you get even more for the money with the Robus at almost half the price.  Three different sets of feet, a 75mm bowl for mounting a video head and a 10 year warranty all make these too good to be true.   The RC-5570s are rock solid, impeccably built and easy to adjust.  I can quickly position the camera from less than 6 high to over 70 with very little effort.  The twist locks turn easily and the legs extend smoothly.  (I also love that there are no shims to fall out which will add to the durability.)  Ive yet to find a single thing to fault about these legs and Ive put them through their paces.   Ive owned Really Right Stuff but now the RC-5570 is my go to tripod.  If youre looking for your last tripod look no further. Well done Robus! [I received this product in exchange for my honest review.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Tripod!!! This tripod is superb in every way - I own many tripods and this is the best built and most stable of them all.  It comes with all sorts of accessories like alternate feet and mounting options as well as a decent carry bag.  The other great thing is the height, even without a neck, this is well over my head when fully extended!! I highly recommend this and likely will buy a smaller version for hiking as well!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, so good On top Id the Robus 5570 Ive added a Manfrotto 502 and a Nikon D810. The view finder is 84 inches from the floor as configured. Underneath is my cute little Manfrotto 190XDB with a 498RC ball head for perspective. The Robus 5570 is massive by comparison. Only time will tell if I made a good choice, but so far, so good. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rI9JtjfPAyodvBnWiUJNBq_URZvffbI5/view?usp=drivesdk

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Built I’m 6’6” and this tripod has plenty of length to eliminate bending and getting into uncomfortable positions as I set the shot up. The height with a Manfrotto XPRO ball head fully extended was 75” perfect fit for me  The twist locks were easy to use to extend or close legs and I liked the small diagram that indicated the direction to lock and unlock found this very useful, have a Gitzo travel tripod that I’m always turning the wrong direction. A bubble level on the platform was useful keeping the tripod level while adjusting the legs in irregular terrain. It’s solidly built and very stable.  The feet stayed tight and did not loosen.  I have lost feet on other tripods that did not stay in place. In addition spiked feet and wide rubber were included besides the ones on the unit. A large hook was under the baseplate for hanging my camera bag.   Carrying bag with large strap fit nicely over my shoulder. Inside a pocket included wrenches to tighten legs, spiked feet, wide rubber feet, flat plate for center column option.   If you are  looking for  a stable and flexible tripod great choice.   I received this product in exchange for honest review

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality at a bargain price This tripod is impressive right out of the box. The quality of the workmanship is superb. The 3 sets of feet, quality bag and video bowl included are a bonus. The tripod is extremely stable and compares favorably to other tripods for which one would pay at least 50% more. I am so pleased with this purchase.
