It looks like my brand new unit arrived with the famous battery issue on day one. I'm sending it back. So far my 4 ad400's are going strong 1 year later. But this didn't even power on once.

Battery issues make this useless

Please listen to the warnings about this product. Expensive batteries that constantly fail. I've gone through three and have now given up on this light that cost us $1000 originally.

Awesome Strobe

Awesome strobe for work in the field. The portable battery units are clutch, and the strobe has some great bang to help fill in shadows on bright days.

STRESSFUL! UNRELIABLE BATTERY- WILL NOT WORK PLUGGED IN!!

I arrived to a commercial shoot today, after thinking I charged the battery the night before-- and it wouldn't turn on. After 10 minutes of fiddling and people staring at me... I'm sweating bullets. No problem! I'm prepared! I brought an extension cord just in case... I thought to myself. FAIL. The unit WILL NOT WORK unless you have a charged battery attached. Bring other options if you plan to use this for a shoot. Luckily I had a backup AD400-- which WILL work plugged in. I wouldn't have purchased this had I known the unit will not work plugged in. DON'T DO IT!! The stress is not worth it!

SHould have gotten this years ago.

The strobe: solid. And it delivers as promised. The C-stand: no more crappy lightweight stands. This stand is built to last. You aren't going to accidently bend it. Not possible unless you throw it off a tall building. The Softbox: really, really nice. Buy two of these combos if you are getting started.

Great light but not ideal for R5

This is an incredible light. No complaints. It did exactly what I thought it would do. My primary camera is and R5 and I wish it was clear ahead of time that there are bugs with HSS and other features when it comes to the R5. You can still use manual mode though.

Good Value Wireless Flash

I just purchased these two units to replace a pair that were stolen on a photo job 2 weeks ago. Bang for the buck, good units and modifiers are plentiful due to the Bowens mount. I would suggest pairing them with the Fusion TLC Raven radio for power control as this is light years ahead of Godox's radio unit. Just be careful to keep your batteries charged and used regularly as the batteries will die for no apparent reason. Color temp is pretty consistent.

Buy the Flashpoint version from Adorama. It comes with a decent case and a much better warranty. It is the exact same light, just rebranded, and works with all your Godox accessories.

question

When do I update the firmware and how often does it need to be updated?
Asked by: Ryan
To download the most recent firmware update from Godox, you would visit their website and go to their Downloads webpage from their menu bar. The Downloads page is listed on the link included below. You would then search for the AD600 on the webpage, then click the green arrow in the Downloads column next to the AD600 on the webpage to begin your download. It only requires updating when a new update is released by Godox, or if you are having issues with your flash.http://www.godox.com/EN/Download.html

Does it have a continuous light for video shooting? thanks
Asked by: Filmon
There is an LED modeling lamp in this monolight which is used for reference of how the light falls on a subject. However, it is not powerful enough for video use.
