Godox AD600Pro Reviews

Batteries are THE WORST

By Reed

I read the complaints on the batteries but decided to purchase anyway and haven't had any problems until this morning. Battery just won't charge anymore after 8 months of extremely light use, always being stored indoors, and in a Pelican case. Godox warranty only covers batteries for 6 months which seems extremely convenient for them and a battery replacement is $150+ which is insane given their failure rate. Won't be purchasing anything from them ever again.

Not good for professional use

If you leave the battery uncharged for 2-3 days it dies on its own even without use. And then it does not charge again. It just dies. You have to open up the battery and manually jump start it, which I refuse to do. This is a glorified piece of junk. There are 100's of. videos on YouTube. I wonder why anyone even buys this

Lots of power

This is probably overkill for my needs, shooting relatively small objects in a controlled environment, but too much is always better than not enough. I charged the battery overnight, before even trying to use the unit, and it's worked for a handful of sessions without hiccup, while also acting as a modeling light.

REALLY love these lights!

This is my second light for my studio--and I'm fully expecting to buy 2 more! They are VERY portable and I love taking them on location for shoots. I find that the batteries normally have no problem lasting for the entirety of a 4 hour shoot (depending on number of shots and light intensity, of course). I do wish that the option to use a wired power connection was available by default on these, for those cases where the battery runs out so we can plug them into a wall. But they do sell adapters that give you that capability, but they're not cheap! And those adapters are like TWICE the size of a battery. So if your light is up high on your ceiling, the wired connection adapter might get in your way and interfere with your light placement (it's frustrated me more than once!) But this light is absolutely amazing! I love it so much. I know that there's another lighting company who is considered to be THE industry standard for professional photographers, but Godox continues to innovate and provide an EXCELLENT lighting alternative for photographers.

Beeps loudly no matter what

Even if you turn the beep sound off, it still beeps. It's unusable during events as it's very distracting.

Love it so much, bought a second one!

I love the Godox line...and the AD600Pro is a fantastic bit of lighting! If you plan to primarily use this in your studio, I highly recommend getting the wired battery adapter so you can just plug it into the wall. There's nothing wrong with the battery--I've only had it run low on one shoot where I was using a lot of really strong lighting and fast bursts--it's just nice to have one less thing to charge up before a shoot. Love this light

Unreliable

The whole situation is unfortunate because I love this light and it's fantastic while it's charged and working but that only happens when you can keep it plugged in 24/7 while it's not in use and you never let it die on an actual shoot. At this price there needs to be something done about the fact that if it dies you legitimately need to jump it with a car jumper pack to bring it back to life. I don't have time for that and I can guess most of you don't either. I have this light and the ad400 that are both out of commission due to this problem. Please invest in a trickle charge godox, I'm begging you.

Buy the Flashpoint version from Adorama. It comes with a decent case and a much better warranty. It is the exact same light, just rebranded, and works with all your Godox accessories.

question

When do I update the firmware and how often does it need to be updated?
Asked by: Ryan
To download the most recent firmware update from Godox, you would visit their website and go to their Downloads webpage from their menu bar. The Downloads page is listed on the link included below. You would then search for the AD600 on the webpage, then click the green arrow in the Downloads column next to the AD600 on the webpage to begin your download. It only requires updating when a new update is released by Godox, or if you are having issues with your flash.http://www.godox.com/EN/Download.html

There is an LED modeling lamp in this monolight which is used for reference of how the light falls on a subject. However, it is not powerful enough for video use.
