LaCie d2 overview

  • 1Description

The 6TB d2 Quadra External Hard Drive from LaCie is equipped with two FireWire ports, one eSATA port and one USB 3.0 Type-A port for versatile connectivity. The included drive has a 7200 rpm rotational speed and 32MB of cache, ensuring you can retrieve your data quickly and efficiently. Once the drive is set up, you can take advantage of improved data transfer speeds with up to 800 Mb/s via FireWire 800, 5 Gb/s via USB 3.0 and 3 Gb/s via eSATA.

The LaCie d2 Quadra comes equipped with the LaCie Shortcut Button allowing you to easily launch a variety of applications including backup applications, music, slideshows and more with the push of a button.

Improved Performance and Reliability
With a USB 3.0 5Gb/s interface and 6TB storage capacity, the LaCie d2 Quadra is an ideal tool for those in need of fast throughput and large storage capacity. It features a 7200 rpm drive with a minimum of 32MB cache for enhanced performance and seek times, so it can handle most resource-intensive applications.
Cross-Platform Applications
The d2 Quadra features USB 3.0, eSATA, and two FireWire 800 interfaces, and it's backward compatible with USB 2.0 and FireWire 400. With all of its interfaces, the d2 Quadra offers universal connectivity making it easy to back up and restore data.
Functional, User-Centric Features
With the preloaded LaCie Desktop Manager, you can easily configure the shortcut button to launch the application of your choice with one push and configure your drive's eco mode. And, with its two-color LED indicator, it is easy to check the drive status. It also includes Genie Backup Assistant software and Intego Backup Assistant software with data restore for Windows and Mac.
Fanless Aluminum Heat Sink Design
The d2 Quadra's fanless aluminum heat sink design utilizes an increased surface area, keeping it quiet and dust-free. It can also stand upright, be stacked horizontally with other drives, or rack-mounted to save desktop space. It's a solution for heavy storage users who want off-site backups and archives of any work environment. The integrated eco mode automatically conserves energy if the drive is inactive for a certain period of time.

    LaCie d2 reviews

    6TB d2 Quadra External Hard Drive (USB Type-A / FireWire 800 / eSATA) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fiddly but works fine So, Im a Mac guy. I  bought this drive because (a) I always buy LaCie and have great faith in them and (b) I needed a drive about this size to replace a (cheaper but) non-LaCie drive that I bought in a moment of weakness. I will say that setting this drive up took a fair amount of fiddling around but that once I figured it out, the drive has been fine. I will also say that part of the reason it took some fiddling is because its kinda legacy - which I understand. Now that its up and running, its fine. I recommend LaCie and this drive as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LaCie HDs are Quiet and Reliable This is my 3rd LaCie external HD. I use the external HDs for video editing on my Mac with Final Cut Pro and I find the LaCie external HDs 100% reliable, quiet and run cool, unlike the 4 Western Digitals and 2 Maxtors external drives I have used in the past. I also like that the LaCie software allows you to decide if you want to allocate part of the drive to be formatted for windows to share files with Windows PCs.
