Sennheiser ew IEM G4 Overview

The ew IEM G4-Twin Wireless Monitor System from Sennheiser is part of the evolution family of wireless monitoring systems and includes an SR IEM G4 transmitter, two EK IEM G4 stereo receivers, two pair of IE 4 earphones, a rod antenna, GA 3 rackmount kit, and four AA batteries. This kit can be used as a rugged, all-in-one, two-person wireless in-ear monitoring system for live stage, theater, and house-of-worship applications. The system provides up to 1680 frequencies tunable in 25 kHz steps to deliver clear, audio without interference and dropouts. Additional transmitters and receivers can be added for up to 16 wireless IEM channels.

Please note: Although this set comes with two receivers, the transmitter will send on only one frequency at a time, and both receivers will operate on that same frequency.

SR IEM G4 Stereo Transmitter
  • The half-rack, stereo transmitter's menu-driven backlit OLED display shows current frequency, frequency bank and channel number, metering of AF level, transmission status, equalizer settings, lock status, and input sensitivity. An auto-lock feature is provided to prevent settings from being accidentally altered.
  • Additionally, associated receivers can be synchronized with the transmitter via an integrated infrared interface. This transmitter is built with two electronically balanced XLR-1/4" combo sockets, a 1/4" headphone output with headphone volume control, an Ethernet port (RJ45 for remote network-based monitoring), and a 50-ohm BNC-type antenna input. Finally, it has a rugged metal housing and includes a 12V power supply and a GA 3 rackmount kit.
Two EK IEM G4 Stereo Bodypack Receivers with IE 4 Earphones
  • Each bodypack receiver's menu-driven backlit display shows current frequency, frequency bank and channel number, metering of RF level, metering of AF level, lock status, and battery status. An auto-lock feature is provided to prevent settings from being accidentally altered.
  • In addition, each of the two receivers includes a switchable high-boost and a multi-level limiter. The limiter is adjustable from -18 to -6 dB in 6 dB steps, or it can be bypassed (off). Built in a rugged metal housing, the unit is powered by two 1.5V AA sized batteries or by a Sennheiser BA 2015 rechargeable accupack. The earphone output uses a 3.5mm stereo jack socket.
  • The two pair of IE 4 earbuds deliver outstanding sound quality and feature exchangeable eartips, so you can customize the fit to ensure high isolation from outside noise and an excellent bass response.

Will these potentially interfere with lavaliers that have already been paired on a film set? I'd like to use these as IFBs.
Asked by: Jeremy
Yes, the Sennheiser ew IEM G4-Twin Wireless Monitor System Kit (A1: 470 to 516 MHz) can be used on a film set where wireless microphones are already being used. As long as the 470 to 516 MHz frequency band will work in your area and does not already have a large number of wireless mics operating on the same band, there should not be any problems. The IEM G4 system offers 1,680 receiving frequencies,

Can the transmitter be battery powered? Perhaps via an Audioroot BDS?
Asked by: DNN
While I haven't experimented with it, technically you should be able to. It's a 12vdc input. So as long as you have the right cable and an adequate battery, I don't see why not.

Hello! This package have two receivers only; Can I use more receivers for same transmitter over same frequency?
Asked by: Fabian
Yes, you can add more recievers, which would all receive the same mix. The appropriate reciever is the Sennheiser EK IEM G4 Stereo Bodypack Receiver with IE 4 Earphones (A: 516 to 558 MHz), BH #SEEKIEMG4A.

Yes you can. When adding additional receivers, make sure they are all on the same band and then just tune all receivers to the same frequency and it will work perfectly.
