question

Whats in the box? Battery charger? Camera strap? Etc...
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes to the strap and charger. It does not have a memory card. Plus the charger is one that plugs into the camera so if you get a spare battery you may consider an external charger that can hold two batteries. On a side note, I agree with Gordon that the camera takes fabulous photos. As I type I look up and enjoy a 36 x 36 center piece of a wall-collage that was taken with this camera. When we travel I carry something a little more and a handful of lenses so I do all of our charging and what not. My wife caries this camera and she loves it. The lens is simple (and auto focus which most of mine are not) but renders colors very well. My wife's only issue is that she would like more reach with the lens BUT she is unwilling to carry a longer lens thus the kit lens does suffice. Plus If I am with her I do have a medium telephoto that has auto focus that I pop on for her. All-in-all we are very pleased.

Why is it that no where in the specs does it say where the cameras are made? The pictures do not show the bottom plate. Why? Before I buy anything, I want to know where the item is made.

question

how are the macro capabilities ?
Asked by: barbara d.
The kit lens minimum focus distance is 12.9cm at wide angle(5.1 , measured from the sensor... that's 2 from the lens) and the magnification factor is x0.24. Comparing that with the celebrated 16mm f/1.4 which has a minimum focus distance of 15cm (5.9 ) and a magnification factor of x0.21, with the addition of OIS on this lens and focus stacking in camera, I'd say this combo makes a terrific macro toolkit. This is an interchangeable lens camera, with the right lens you can do great macro. One tip: try using flash if you shoot macro, you'll get far better result if you use that to freeze moving subjects; but, I am not sure how well this works with focus stacking.
