Really nice bokeh, good contrast for focusing. A little tricky with more distant focusing though, feels like too short a throw at the long end, but overall good.

After reading many reviews, I was anxious to try this lens. My copy didn't focus beyond about 25ft. At close distances it was great. I'll probably try another sometime. B&H is great to deal with. They have a fabulous return policy. This seems like a Q.C. problem with 7Artisans.

This manual lens is very tricky, when focusing on subject... But when you get the hang of it, very good stills!

Amazing !!!!

I bought my 7artisans 25mm f/1.8 lens as a compact, light-weight alternative to using adapted full-frame Pentax lenses on my Fuji X-E2 camera body. When critically compared, my 7artisans lens and my SMC Pentax-A 28mm f/2.8 lens (used with a K&F Concept PK to FX adapter) each had visually equal center resolution and contrast at their overlapping range of f-numbers. In photos made with each of identical scenes, I actually preferred the 7artisans tonal rendition to that of the Pentax lens. So what's not to like? Well that depend on how you plan to use the lens. My intent was to use my Fuji body with this lens for candid street photography, The good news is that this light and compact package is close to ideal for this purpose. At f/8 with the lens set hard against its infinity focus stop, the depth-of-field will safely extend down to 20 feet or so. But what if your main subjects are closer than 20 feet? This is where the 7artisans lens is less that ideal. Since the 7artisans lens focuses down from infinity to 0.6 feet in just about 100 degrees of lens rotation, focusing sharply on objects closer than say 20 feet is quite touchy and really requires using Fuji's focus magnification aid. I also found that the focus scale marks were quite unreliable at distances of a few feet. Ah, but what about just using the depth-of-field scale on the lens barrel to set your hyperfocal distance? Forget about it! That scale is just a purely fictional decoration. For example, if I set the infinity mark at f/8 on the left, the focal point is set to about 3.5 feet (nominal) (but about 1 foot actual) with everything supposedly in focus from infinity down to about 2 feet (nominal). Would that were so! Oh, and by the way, the extreme corners of the image do fall off noticeably in IQ at all apertures. This does not bother me but may bother you. Bottom line? This is a quite decent lens for its price, making it a 4 out of 5 for me It may meet your needs very well as long as you know what you are getting.

OK except for.....

Everything is fine for the price especially since I obtained mine used from BH. There is only one thing: the manual focus throw is too small between medium-distance and infinity so it is very difficult to get correct focus except for objects closer. I have 50 years experience shooting manual focus and own more than 50 manual focus lenses, so I know it is not a problem with my focusing. I don't have the same problem with my other manual focus lenses. I was going to return it to BH but after the mailing cost and restocking fee, there wasn't much money to get back so I kept it. Will probably hand-it down to a niece or nephew along with my oldest M43 body.

Loose fit

Mounted correctly, the lens rotates slightly on the camera (small popping noise when changing the direction of rotation of the aperture or focus ring). Bad copy? My other lenses don't have this problem.

I have the Fuji X-T100 and I just received this lens and it will not take a picture. I've re-formatted the card, turned the camera on and off..... The f-stop ring works, but that's it. Has anyone had this same issue, and has a work around?

Hi, i read on some website that this lens might not fit an om-d e-m10 mark ii , can you please confirm ?
Asked by: Maxime
This lens WILL fit on a EM10 mark II but it does not fit on the mark III due to a slightly different design. The mount of the lens hits the front of the camera just above the flange on the camera and does not allow it to seat and mount.
