Mixing a normal field of view with an exceptionally fast maximum aperture, the black 50mm f/1.1 from 7artisans Photoelectric is a versatile prime designed for M-mount rangefinder cameras. Distinguished by its bright f/1.1 design, this lens excels in low-light conditions and also affords extensive control over depth of field for isolating subjects and using selective focus techniques. A rounded 12-blade diaphragm also contributes to shallow depth of field work by producing a smooth, rounded bokeh quality.

The lens features a Sonnar-type optical design with 7 elements in 6 groups, and individual elements feature a multi-layer coating to help reduce reflections and ghosting for greater contrast and color accuracy. Additionally, the lens has an all-manual design, and focusing operation is benefitted by engraved depth of field and focusing scales.

Normal-length 50mm prime designed for full-frame and 35mm Leica M-mount rangefinder cameras.
Notably fast f/1.1 maximum aperture affords extensive control over depth of field and also benefits working in low-light conditions.
Sonnar-type optical design delivers a high degree of sharpness throughout the aperture range.

Whose fault is it for being unable to afford a noctilux

This is my first non-leica lens and I love it so far. Easy to calibrate on my M10-R: I spent about 10mins to follow the instruction to adjust the back. But honestly it came pretty well calibrated . No, it is not sharp at all on f1.1, even at the center it has noticeable glowing on the subject. But I like the dreamy and soft character. If I want sharpness I could turns down to f2 or smaller and I am satisfied with the clearness for f2. For a f1.1 lens it is vert lightweight so my camera doesn't tip over on a flat surface. I also love my 50mm Summilux silver but I cannot let my M camera stand. Yes it does not have the performance of a noctilux, but for a tiny fraction price of a noctilux (maybe less than its sell tax), this lens provides 80% performance of a noctilux (yeah it cannot be quantified but you get the idea). For me it 100% worth the price. It is unfair to benchmark this lens with a noctilux, haters should be well aware of it by simply looking at the price. I am wondering if people mad because it enables more people to access the premium league of noctilux.

Nowhere near perfect wide open but fun nonetheless. Adapt it to digital mostly, sometimes with the TECHART AF adapter, but I enjoy using it with film as well. It behaves itself stopped down to f/1.4 and beyond but that is not why I bought this lens. I have objectively better AF lenses for that. But when shooting for myself I will often reach for this one instead. See samples. All shot wide open.

This lens is Incredible! The craftsmanship feels first class right up there with Voightlander, for comparison. Heavy in a wonderful way definitely does not feel cheap. The quality for the money is what's important, this nifty noctilux does exactly what it's supposed to do. At F1.1 obviously your going to be soft, but the image is reasonably sharp especially in the center. At F2.8 I get incredible results, and I usually shoot it at F5.6 and it's amazing. F8.0 is razor sharp all over. There is no better deal for a Leica M-P240 user like myself. An incredible amount of Lens resolving power for the fraction of the price of a Leica. My lens was accurate right out of the box, got lucky I guess. Would recommend this lens to anyone one a budget or exploring Leica rangefinder photography. My only thing was, my lens was not chipped. No big deal, I shoot in manual mode or aperture priority. You can't lose. Hope this helps.

While not Leica 'glass', this is a more than acceptable alternative to normal lens...no complaints with image quality!

Wide open that is. And why would you use this at any other aperture? If you want sharp - use another lens or stop this down but then you don't get the delightful and dreamy aspects. Fun to use.

Not usable on Leica SL2 or CL

This well built enjoyable lens works well on my Leica M10. It will not focus to infinity on myLeica SL2 using the Leica adaptor nor on the CL. The rear is too deep for either of those cameras. It is an M mount only, which is how it is marketed. I had hope it would work on the SL2 and CL. Alas, it won't . Otherwise I admire the built, the quality of the glass and find it a fun lens now and then. I have hd this lens a little over a year.

For the price, it punches well above its class.

Got this because I didn't want to spend $8K on a Leica 50 Nocti ... I primarily use a 35/1.4 and 75/2AA on my M Monochrome ... 50mm is too close to both focal lengths. I also tend to use M lenses on Sony A mirrorless cameras and use the magnification feature to focus with ... Once you calibrate this lens on your Leica M, it can be sharper than expected ... however, I'd bet it is the luck of the draw whether every copy is decently sharp wide open. When this lens is on it reminds me of the pre-ASPH 50/1.4 in character ... which is s good thing for portraits and the like.

What’s the best UV filter to use with this lens that is compatible with the Lenscap? I bought an F-pro B+W but I cant fit the lens cap when using the said filter

If you are looking for the best UV filter available for your filter thread size, and which also has 55mm front filter accessory threads, I would recommend either the Hoya 55mm HD3 UV Filter, B&H # HOUVHD355, the ZEISS 55mm Carl ZEISS T* UV Filter, B&H # ZEUVF55, or the Hoya 55mm EVO Antistatic UV(0) Filter, B&H # HOUVASE55, for your usage needs, depending on your budget.

It appears this lens will not work with the Leica M to l adaptor on the Leica CL. It extends too far back to focus to infinity. Has anyone found a way around this?

Has anyone used this as well as the Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1.1? Is the Voigtlander worth the extra $330?

If you are looking for a lens that is inexpensive and has lots of character, get the 7artisans. It is not sharp wide open but you may want that look. The Voigtlander is more a conventional lens in that is it sharp at all stops and can be expected to produce under all circumstances for considerably less than a Leica lens.

My sample interfered with the meter arm on my M5 (an early 2-lug model). There were slight variations over the course of production, as with most camera, but the combination would not work for me.
