7artisans Photoelectric 25mm f/1.8 overview

  • 1Description

Designed for Micro Four Thirds cameras, this black 25mm f/1.8 Lens from 7artisans Photoelectric is a wide prime lens with completely manual operation. It covers sensor sizes up to the APS-C format, offering an equivalent focal length of 50mm that is well-suited for street shooting and travel photography. A rounded 12-blade diaphragm offers pleasing bokeh and smooth out-of-focus areas, with a bright maximum aperture of f/1.8 for low-light photography that can be stopped down to f/16 to improve depth of field.

The lens' optics feature 7 elements in 5 groups that are treated with a multi-layer high permeability coating, which helps reduce reflections and improve image quality. Both the manual focus and aperture rings are knurled to improve grip and are complemented by an engraved depth of field scale for easy operation. Other features include a minimum focus distance of 7.1" for close-up shots and a 46mm front filter thread for mounting a wide variety of optional filters.

    7artisans Photoelectric 25mm f/1.8 reviews

25mm f/1.8 Lens for Micro Four Thirds Cameras (Black) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Lens for the Price I have an Olympus E-m5 Micro 4/3 camera and have been looking for a low profile, 25MM prime for it. I want something with a small profile (pancake lens) but none are available in that size. This lens is a bit smaller that the 25MM primes sold by Olympus and Panasonic. This one is also just manual focus. I have only had it for a few days but it is very good, especially at this price. I am not a pro photographer. This lens reminds me of my days of long ago with my film Nikon EM and 50 MM lens. Fun to play around with. I recommend it for those of you who want to have a manual focus prime for your bag. I think it takes good pictures and appears to be pretty well built.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very impressed so far Only had this a few weeks fitted to my Olympus Pen-F Digital but so far I am very happy with this lens especially at this price point. Initially it was out of stock but came quickly anyway. Images are very sharp and it feels smooth to use. In narrow depth of field the bokeh is okay but not dreamy. I find that close up it focuses very well bordering macro capability. Some sort of hood would be an advantage as it does catch the sun.
