I just bought a 83" Sony A90j TV from you guys. It has a eArc output, but this receiver only has an Arc output. Is it beneficial to look for a receiver that has an eArc output to match my TV's output ?
Asked by: Michael
The main benefit of eARC is a big boost in bandwidth and speed. This allows you to send higher-quality audio (Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio and object-based formats such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X) from your TV to a soundbar or AV receiver. Both units will need to be "eARC" capable to take advantage of this feature. The bandwidth restrictions of ARC will mean you won’t be able to experience the high bitrate audio that eARC can provide.

What are the specific differences between the X8500H and the A110? When I look at the two without their top panel on at Denon's site, the two units look very different. I was wondering if you could tell me what I'm looking at and how that translates into better/worse sound since I sometimes play my system at extremely high levels.
Asked by: Preston
Both of these receivers have the same power, so would provide the same volume and sound quality to the properly matched speakers. The main differences are that the A110 has these features above the X8500H: The A110 supports 8K signal pass through, has eARC, Airplay2 and HEOS, and supports DTS:Pro. It has more upmixxing technology as well for Dolby and DTS surround and immersive audio.
