Monument Labs A12 overview

  • 1Description

Built with Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi network connectivity, the Personal Cloud Server from Monument Labs provides automatic photo storage, organization, and backups for up to five smartphone users. For those who are using devices that capture photos to an SD card, there is also an integrated SD card slot. While there is no internal storage, this cloud server can be equipped with external storage using its two USB 2.0 Type-A ports. While one of the ports is used to attach the necessary storage for performing backups, the second port can be used to attach an additional drive, which will offer 1:1 data redundancy in a RAID 1 configuration. Included is a power adapter.

General Features

Sync & Backup
Photos from smartphones sync over Wi-Fi in seconds as you walk into your home, opening up more storage space to capture the moments in your life. If you're using a device that writes to an SD card, just plug the card into the integrated SD card slot.
Automatic Organization
Monument's artificial intelligence analyzes and organizes your photos by date, location, camera type, faces, and what's in them - even if you have not tagged them before. This helps make it easier to relive the moments you've captured.
User-Friendly Photo Search
Quickly search for scenes, people, locations, and so much more. Just type in the names of the people to find their photos.
All the Storage You Need
Monument allows you to use your own external hard drives for storage that connect via USB 2.0 Type-A, giving you the freedom to choose a drive to best suit your needs. If you plug in a 2TB drive, then you'll have 2TB of storage available.
Automatic Backups
Monument offers multiple backup options. Just plug in a second USB drive for additional backups in a RAID 1 environment. This helps provide peace-of-mind that your photos are safe.
Multi-User Family Accounts
Others in your family can join and create accounts for free, allowing photos and albums to be managed and shared between family members and friends.

    Monument Labs A12 reviews

Personal Cloud Server with Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple but sparse documentation I could not find if there was a limitation of hard drive size. I ended up buying two 4GB hard drives. I've connected one, and uploaded photos from my iPad. Everything worked fine. I have it connected to my router via ethernet. I have not connected the second HD or a PC yet. I plan to make the second HD redundant. I hope I can upload photos from my PC, but I am not sure if I have this capability, based on the reviews.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Easy To Use. Very Secure. I have owned a Monument A12 photo organizer now for 5 months. I can't think of an easier and more secure way to organize your photos and videos. It stores your photos and videos on your memory device, not on an unsecuredcloud. I bet some Hollywood starletswished theyhad this because there would be no leaked photos. I use a 1TB drive which is more than enough for me but you can expand it if needed. It automatically recognized yourphone and uploads images. You can also insert an SD card into the front panel to uploadfrom your DSLR. This easily brings up what you want in a snap. You can file your photos and videos by categories whichis really, really cool. You can search by date, location, thecamera used, favorites and it even browses by face. Yes, it has a facial recognition feature. You can getyour photos from up to 5 different devices. This is an easy way for a family to share images on all their phones. Highly recommended and I gave a few away during the holidays as gifts as it is very resonablypriced. Everyone loves it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I Like Its Convenience Convenient way to dump my SD card. Just uncouple the hard drive from the Monument system and connect it to computer for the editing of full resolution photos. Still learning its virtues.
