Zhiyun-Tech Crane Plus Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer

Taking a step up from the Crane v2, the Zhiyun-Tech Crane Plus is a three-axis handheld gimbal stabilizer offering MotionMemory, POV, Intelligent Object Tracking, and NightLapse modes. The Crane Plus supports a large payload capacity of up to 5.5 lb, and provides integrated control for select DSLR and mirrorless cameras. With 360° rotation along all three axes, and up to 45° of synchronized roll in POV mode, the Crane Plus offers a multitude of smooth, stabilized shooting angles. An all-in-one design and dedicated camera cables enable you to snap stills, and zoom with select cameras using controls on the Crane Plus handgrip.

The versatile MotionMemory feature enables you to create and save custom moves, including time-lapse setups. Use MotionMemory to repeat your camera motion again and again with just the touch of a button. Use the POV mode to capture traditional, level point-of-view shots, or engage up to 45° of roll angle to create an off-level, "Dutch tilt" look. The Intelligent Object Tracking mode is useful for vlogging and otherwise automatically following a subject or object. Trace a box around your subject on your smartphone to start the Crane Plus tracking. The aptly named NightLapse feature on the Crane Plus enables you to create dramatic time-lapse videos at night, complete with extended exposures, streaking taillights, etc.

The Crane Plus is designed for DSLR and mirrorless camera rigs weighing up to 5.5 lb, and includes a detachable lens support for long lenses. The included aluminum mini-tripod does double duty as an extended handgrip, and a 1/4"-20 mounting hole on the gimbal's bottom enables its use with monopods and other supports. This gimbal can also be controlled wirelessly via the downloadable ZY Play iOS/Android app. The Crane Plus is powered by the two included 26500 lithium-ion batteries, which feature a 12 to 18-hour runtime, and a three-hour average charging time.

Zhiyun-Tech Dual Handgrip for Crane/Crane-M Gimbals

Use the Dual Handgrip from Zhiyun-Tech to reduce fatigue when operating your Crane Plus gimbal. Holding the gimbal with both hands also produces smoother, more professional-looking footage when filming with your camcorder, gimbal-mounted DSLR, mirrorless camera, or smartphone. By transferring movement from your wrist to your body's core, this two-handed grip increases the time you can shoot comfortably. The versatile Dual Handgrip can be grasped overhanded, or underhanded (inverted mode).

Constructed of a lightweight, durable aluminum alloy, the Dual Handgrip features thumb-lever fasteners, and rubberized handles for a secure grip. The handles detach from the crossbar for increased portability, and each handle incorporates a 1/4"-20 mounting thread for attaching to a tripod or other support for stationary shots.

Zhiyun-Tech Crane Plus Reviews

Almost useless.

The camera I used for this lens was the Lumix G7 . So that and the lens was way below the maximum weight, But that did not keep the gimbal from making grinding noises that could be picked up on my audio (which I recorded seperatly) I finally tried to do an upgrade, but now the head moves on its own and when you attempt to use the joystick the camera moves in the opposite direction.

Have spent hours attempting to balance a Sony A6000 on this thing -- the moving pieces are very stiff making it difficult to make the minute moves one needs to balance the camera & lens. Maybe with time and practice I will learn to love it. but not feeling it at the moment.

Only disappointment is you cannot wire like a Sony.

Solid and light weight

Easy to use and setup, needs practice and wish there was an « mode » indicator (ex. a light) so u know which mode ur on (ex. Pan vs tilt vs etc). I highly recommend a quick release plate (ex. Manfrotto 323) - to make switching between gimbal and freehand a lot easier (and MUCH more user-friendly).

Doesn't work and no support

I bought one of these to use with my EOS R. The weight of the R with either my RF 24-105 F4 or my RF 15-35 F2.8 is substantially under the 5.5 pound rating of this gimbal. In spite of that I could not get this gimbal to balance. It went from flopping forward to flopping backwards immediately and wouldn't get close to balancing. In use it stuttered and never operated smoothly. I tried reaching out to Zhiyun and got referred to useless videos. This was a total waste of money. Don't make the same mistake I did. Don't buy this. Before I buy my next gimbal I'm going to make someone show me it works with my camera and lenses. I may end up throwing this one in the trash to keep it from frustrating someone else.

unable to use with audio.

Using the M43 G7 and being well below the maximum weight it would make a noise like it was too heavy and the external audio could pick it up. When attempted to update the firmware it made the crane almost useless.
