To attach to a camera or a lens, the BlackRapid Classic Retro RS-4 Camera Strap features a durable, brass and zinc-alloy CR-3 ConnectR locking carabiner. An included BlackRapid FR-5 FastenR Breathe creates a connection point using a camera or lens's 1/4"-20 tripod mount. The FR-5 FastenR Breathe has a large, integrated D-ring for easy use with BlackRapid straps that utilize a CR-3 ConnectR.

When multiple cameras or lenses need to be carried, a separately-available BlackRapid CoupleR Strap allows a BlackRapid Classic Retro RS-4 Camera Strap to be joined with a second camera strap, that is also compatible with a CoupleR, to create a functional double-camera harness.

A BlackRapid Camera Safety TetheR is provided to reinforce the Classic Retro RS-4 Camera Strap while in use, as well as a plastic BlackRapid Lockstar Breathe Carabiner Protector, which is compatible with BlackRapid straps that feature a CR-3 ConnectR locking carabiner. By folding over a CR-3 ConnectR, the Lockstar Breathe prevents unintentional user contact with a CR-3 ConnectR that could cause it to accidentally unlock. Additionally, it helps to block the metal surface of a CR-3 ConnectR from scratching a connected camera or lens.

Camera Strap

Needed a new heavy weight camera strap for a new longer lens for my Canon. The B & H chat rep recommended this one. I had already researched on my own and found the same outcome so immediately ordered it. It was as expected and works well for my needs. I am an older female so the strap padding and allowance for adjustments works for me. I would recommend for anyone needing something other than the strap which comes with their camera.

Finally - the one for me!

I've tried a number of others, and this has it all. I'm tall, 6/2, and like my camera at my side, falling into my hand. This does it neatly. Pockets for memory cards and lens cloths, maybe even a spare battery. Easy to adjust, although once you get it right, not much need for that -- for me anyway. Also has easily set stop that keep the camera just where you want it. Watch the videos and it is simple and straightforward. I wear it every day, and I don't think about it as I bring my camera up and down. That's my idea of perfect tech. Does the job without requiring constant attention. Thank you BalckRapid!

Comfortable, Versatile Strap

This strap allows the camera to hang lower and works well in an across-the body configuration. It can be carried it on either shoulder so it works for left or right-handed camera users. The tether strap adds an extra layer of security. I use a Really Right Stuff L-Bracket on my camera and I use a Really Right Stuff QD strap swivel to attach the Black Rapid strap. When necessary, I can release the QD Strap Swivel and the tether strap will still secure the camera. It is long enough to allow the camera to be held without the strap getting in the way. The adjustable bumper is also a nice feature. The small loop on the strap end allows the attachment of a small hand-made pocket in which I place my lens cap rather than setting it down somewhere.

Best way to waterproof your camera

We do a lot of hiking in the national parks and forests. There is never a guaranty of good weather and we have been snowed on, rained on, and covered in dust. I have put my camera under my raingear or jacket but that was, obviously, not a great solution. The Think Tank rain cover helped immensely but I still had a problem with the strap. I used a harness style strap so the camera wouldn't be bouncing around as I climbed over rocky terrain. The solution to that problem was the BlackRapid 10-Year Anniversary Edition Classic Retro RS-4 Camera Strap which allowed my to close up the rain cover and also to allow me to get my hands into the rain cover to work the camera. So, in inclement weather, I use the strap and in good weather, I can use the harness. A win-win!

Strong and Reliable

This strap is very comfortable and well made. Other than the off chance that the user might not tighten the attachment to the camera body (or lens) it has no weak points. This strap is much heavier than the current Black Rapid strap.

Great product. I've had a BlackRapid strap that is no longer sold. I wish it was still in their product line!

I shoot with a Nikon D850 with grip and L-bracket, so a moderately heavy setup. The BR strap is superb for walking around with a bigger camera and lens. I have gone walking with the 850 and the (older) 300mm f4, and the strap both supports very well and allows the rig to hang smoothly at my hip when not in use. When you work, just slide the camera up to your eyes and when done, it goes back down on your hip. A bit of adjusting as you lower the camera, and it becomes second nature. I did a worst case scenario trying our Mamiya RZ-67 on the strap. The 67 is a brick, and yet, it too appears to hang very comfortably...have to take it out to test it, but it looks promising. The BR is very well made, with a wide old-style shoulder pad that you come to love immediately. Worn from opposite shoulder across the chest, the strap feels safe and comfy. I am just under 6ft, and at what I believe is full extension of the strap, the Nikon hangs exactly at my hip bone. Highly recommended, I couldn't have asked for anything better or more immediately user-friendly for my purposes.

I just received my strap and want to attach it to ...

I just received my strap and want to attach it to my Canon 100-400 mm lens, not the 7D II body. Attaching to body puts too much torque on lens mount. Bit I need to attach to the tripod mount because the tapped hole in the lens is not 1/4-20. Are there adapters so that I don’t need to use the tripod mount?
Asked by: Edward
The tap on the lens is a 1/4-20, you can in fact screw this into the bottom of the foot on the Canon 100-400mm lens. If you need to have the strap screwed into the foot and don't want to have to take it off every time you put it onto a tripod, you could use something along the lines of this, KIKLP450V2, where you would screw this plate onto the bottom of the collar on your 100-400, screw the Black Rapids plate into the 1/4-20 on the plate near the back which would leave the front of the plate open to be mounted on a tripod.

question

Can you use the strap with an L Bracket?
Asked by: Vito L
Thanks for your inquiry! Yes, you can definitely use an L Bracket with this strap and all of our other straps. The L Bracket from 3 Legged Thing works really well with our FR-5.
