Hi Cedna - please contact Spider Holster directly. We suggest you purchase the SpiderPro Single system v2, but please ask that they replace the SpiderPro plate with the SpiderLight plate for you. This SpiderLight plate will fit your R5 (the belt and holster will still be the Pro belt and Pro holster). ALSO - please remember that we advise you use our Lens Collar plate v2 if you carry a 70-200mm 2.8 lens or bigger.

How well does this work if you have to wear over a coat for winter shooting?
Typically it works well over a coat given a particular waist size range. The belt fits waists from 28-58", if you take that into consideration when wearing a coat, then it should be fine if it falls below 58".
