DPA Microphones Core 4060 Overview

The black DPA 4060 CORE with TA4F Adapter is a miniature, moisture-resistant lavalier microphone designed for use with wireless systems for broadcast, performance, and theatrical applications. The electret-condenser capsule delivers crisp, clear, and intelligible speech, while the rugged yet unobtrusive design is well suited to the demands of professional live stage work and presentations.

This version of the 4060 uses DPA's CORE technology to deliver a 6 dB increase in dynamic range and a 6 dB reduction in noise over the 4060 Legacy model. Included are two interchangeable capsule protection grids that alter the sonic character of the mic. The High-Boost Grid creates a peak at 12 kHz, helpful for chest placement, while the Soft-Boost Grid offers a subtle boost between 8 to 20 kHz, lightly enhancing signal presence to ensure clarity.

With an SPL rating of 134 dB, the microphone is more than capable of handling most standard speakers, vocalists, and presenters. The mic can also be used very effectively to capture instruments—making it a flexible tool for houses-of-worship and live event productions. The 4060 CORE is powered by 5 to 10V plug-in power from a wireless transmitter and features a modular design using a Microdot output connector. This version includes a TA4F adapter compatible with Shure wireless microphone transmitters.

Modular System Featuring Microdot Connector with TA4F Adapter
Compatible Wireless Transmitters
  • Shure: Works with Shure transmitters equipped with a TA4M connector, including the AD1, ADX1, AXT100TA4M, BLX1, GLXD1, MXW1, PGXD1, QLXD1, SLX1, SLXD1, ULX1, and ULXD1. Also supports Line 6 and TOA transmitters.
  • The modular design allows you to adapt the 4060's Microdot connector to a wide variety of transmitters simply by purchasing the compatible adapter—saving you the expense of buying another microphone.
Optional XLR Adapter for Wired Applications
The DAD6001 Microdot to 3-pin XLR Adapter (available separately) allows you to power the 4060 from 12 or 48V phantom power for wired applications.
A Reliable Broadcast-Quality Lavalier
Miniature Mic with a Crisp, Clear Sound
The 4060 CORE features a 5.4mm capsule that enables the microphone to be inconspicuous and easily disguised in clothing or costumes. The vertical diaphragm design offers a clear and natural sound optimized for the human voice.
Two Boost Grids Included to Tailor High Frequencies
The pre-fitted Soft-Boost Grid gives a 3 dB soft boost at 8 to 20 kHz range. It should be used when the microphone is mounted on the performer's head as well as in most other applications where you need a natural-sounding mic. Alternatively, the High-Boost Grid introduces a 10 dB boost around 12 kHz for applications where chest placement is preferred. Both grids are made of tough and scratch-resistant anodized stainless steel, allowing them to be detached and cleaned.
Normal Headroom for Standard Speech
The 4060 CORE features a sensitive capsule designed for standard speech and vocal applications at levels up to 134 dB SPL before clipping.
Omnidirectional Polar Pattern
The forgiving omnidirectional pick-up pattern captures sound from all around the mic and provides a consistent frequency response, even for off-axis sound. This helps to supply clear, intelligible speech and vocals, even when the talent turns away from the microphone.
Tough, Moisture-Resistant Construction
Engineered with a double-vent protection system, the 4060 is certified IP58 for dust and moisture resistance. The rugged 5.9' cable is built with Kevlar strain relief to survive the constant twists, bends, and pulls that are part of everyday use in harsh environments.
Additional Options
This version of the DPA 4060 CORE does not include mounts, windscreens, or clips; they are available separately.

  • The SCM0032-B 2-Way Dual Clip allows you to mount two lavs for broadcasting.
  • The SCM0013-B 4-Way Clip offers a variety of flexible positioning choices for up, down, left, and right mounting.
  • To hide the mic, the DMM0021 Concealer attaches safely and securely to clothing and costumes and is designed to resist clothing and rustling noise.
  • Foam windscreens to reduce breath and plosive noises are available in multiple color choices to match clothing.

How's this mic function with the Sennheiser G4 system?
Asked by: C Jordan
This mic does not include a connector for any wireless system directly. To make this work with a Sennheiser G4 system, you will need to purchase the DPA Microdot connector for a Sennheiser system BH #DPDAD6034.

Could work with Sony EWP D SERIES ?
Asked by: Mario
Yes. The DPA Microphones 4060-OC-C-C00 CORE Normal-Sensitivity Omni Lavalier Microphone has a Microdot connector which can be used with an adapter to enable compatibility with Sony UWP-D series transmitters. For example, you can use the DPA Microphones DAD6019 MicroDot to 1/8" Mini Connector for Sony (B&H # DPDAD6019).

How would I use this microphone with a GoPro ...

How would I use this microphone with a GoPro Hero5? I would like to keep it as simple as possible.
Asked by: ryan
This DPA 4060 has a locking 3.5mm connector and it also requires 5 to 10V of plug-in power so I would not recommend it for use with the GoPro Hero5. The 4060 is really designed for use with a wireless transmitter, not for direct connection to a camera. Additionally, the 3.5mm GoPro mic adapter has a standard non-locking input so the mic will not be connected securely and it is very likely that the mic may require more voltage than the camera can supply. You definitely can use the DPA 4060 with a wireless mic system such as the Sennheiser EW 112P G4 Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System - A: 516 to 558 MHz (B&H # SEEW112PG4A) -- you can choose the frequency band. The wireless transmitter will supply the proper voltage for the mic and the wireless receiver will connect to the GoPro Pro 3.5mm Mic Adapter (B&H # GO35MA) without any problems. We also have other wireless mic systems that use the same type of locking connector and wiring as Sennheiser which would be compatible with with the 4060 mic. We can also help you to select a different mic if you do prefer to use a wired mic with the Hero5. Please contact us by phone or through live chat on the website for further assistance.
