DPA Microphones Core 4061 Overview

The black DPA 4061 CORE with TA4F Adapter is a miniature, moisture-resistant lavalier microphone designed for use with wireless systems for broadcast, performance, and theatrical applications. The low-sensitivity electret-condenser capsule can handle loud vocalists, speakers, and performers and delivers crisp, clear, and intelligible audio, while the rugged yet unobtrusive design is well suited to the demands of professional live stage work and presentations.

This version of the 4061 uses DPA's CORE technology to deliver a 4 dB increase in dynamic range and a 14 dB reduction in noise over the 4061 Legacy model. The mic includes two interchangeable capsule-protection grids that alter the sonic character of the microphone. The High-Boost Grid creates a peak at 12 kHz, helpful for chest placement, while the Soft-Boost Grid offers a subtle boost between 8 to 20 kHz, lightly enhancing signal presence to ensure clarity.

With an SPL rating of 144 dB, the microphone is more than capable of handling loud speakers, vocalists, and presenters. The mic can also be used very effectively to capture instruments—making it a flexible tool for houses of worship and live event productions. The 4061 CORE is powered by 5 to 10V plug-in power from a wireless transmitter and features a modular design using a Microdot output connector. This version includes a TA4F adapter compatible with Shure wireless microphone transmitters.

Modular System Featuring Microdot Connector with TA4F Adapter
Compatible Wireless Transmitters
  • Shure: Works with Shure transmitters equipped with a TA4F connector, including the AD1, ADX1, AXT100TA4M, BLX1, GLXD1, MXW1, PGXD1, QLXD1, SLX1, SLXD1, ULX1, and ULXD1. Also supports Line 6 and TOA transmitters.
  • The modular design allows you to adapt the 4061's Microdot connector to a wide variety of transmitters simply by purchasing the compatible adapter—saving you the expense of buying another microphone.
Optional XLR Adapter for Wired Applications
The DAD6001 Microdot to 3-pin XLR adapter (available separately) allows you to power the 4061 from 12 to 48V phantom power for wired applications.
A Reliable, Broadcast-Quality Lavalier
Miniature Mic with a Crisp, Clear Sound
The 4061 CORE features a 5.4mm capsule that enables the microphone to be inconspicuous and easily disguised in clothing or costumes. The vertical diaphragm design offers a clear and natural sound optimized for the human voice.
Two Boost Grids Included to Tailor High Frequencies
The pre-fitted Soft-Boost Grid gives a 3 dB soft boost at 8 to 20 kHz range. It should be used when the microphone is mounted on the performer's head as well as in most other applications where you need a natural-sounding mic. Alternatively, the High-Boost Grid introduces a 10 dB boost around 12 kHz for applications where chest placement is preferred. Both grids are made of tough and scratch-resistant anodized stainless steel, allowing them to be detached and cleaned.
Lower Sensitivity for Loud Vocals, Speech, and Instruments
The 4061 CORE features a less sensitive capsule designed for loud speech and vocal performances at levels up to 144 dB SPL before clipping. It also makes the mic well suited to concealment in clothing and costumes and allows the mic to be hidden at the subject's hairline without overloading the input levels.
Omnidirectional Polar Pattern
The forgiving omnidirectional pickup pattern captures sound from all around the mic and provides a consistent frequency response, even for off-axis sound. This helps to supply clear, intelligible speech and vocals, even when the talent turns away from the microphone.
Tough, Moisture-Resistant Construction
Engineered with a double-vent protection system, the 4061 is certified IP58 for dust and moisture resistance. The rugged 5.9' cable is built with Kevlar strain relief to survive the constant twists, bends, and pulls that are part of everyday use in harsh environments.
Additional Options
This version of the DPA 4061 CORE does not include mounts, windscreens, or clips; they are available separately.

  • The SCM0032-B 2-Way Dual Clip allows you to mount two lavs for broadcasting.
  • The SCM0013-B 4-Way Clip offers a variety of flexible positioning choices for up, down, left, and right mounting.
  • To hide the mic, the DMM0021 Concealer attaches safely and securely to clothing and costumes and is designed to resist clothing and rustling noise.
  • Foam windscreens to reduce breath and plosive noises are available in multiple colors choices to match clothing.

will this work with the Rode Wireless Go II?
Asked by: David
No! DPA 4061 with Rode wireless go do not work. I have tried it. The microphone cable is apparently very sensitive to radio frequency interference from the Rode transmitter. All you'll get is terrible noise.

(Sorry-- unable to edit previously submitted question about difference between two similar stereo pairs of 4061 being offered by B&H) Specifically, I'm wondering if there is any downside to the newer (I presume) model. That is, is it equal to, or better than, the older 4061, in every technical detail? Thank you. DG
