I purchased this lens on a whim when it was on sale. It is used with a Blackmagic PCC 6K Pro. I was looking at used lenses with the same specs but at twice the price. I'm just getting into interchangeable lenses for shooting video. Works great for my needs. I posted a short video of the TAMRON 70-210 in action with the 6K Pro on my YouTube Channel OnOn2Ski. I had been looking at this lens and when B&H had a sale I decided to purchase. Very impressed with the lens, and the sale price was an added bonus. While this lens might not be as sharp as the Tamron SP offerings, the sharpness is so close I can accept it. This lens gives me the range of a much larger and heavier 70-200 2.8 G2 and I can hand hold and carry as a travel / walk around lens. I do not need a tripod with this lens so that gives me much more flexibility over the larger 2.8 version. The autofocus is quick and accurate on my Canon DSLR's and EOS RP. My only comment would be the ergonomics. The zoom ring is at the end of the lens. This doesn't bother me as much as the fact that you can't access the zoom ring with the hood reversed. Not a big deal unless you are needing to get a quick shot and grab the camera/lens out of the bag without mounting the hood. Even at the full MSRP this lens is a bargain. The lens hood is included unlike Canon's non-L lenses. Unless you are needed absolute tack sharp images for larger prints, this lens is great. I can't tell much difference between this lens and the 70-200 2.8 G2 in prints up to 12X18.

Reasonably compact

Really nice that it maintains its' f stop though its' zoom range, which is essential if you're going to do a zoom during a video shot. The auto focus will not work with my Red Komodo unless I switch off the VC Image Stabilization.

Extremely impressed with this lens, mind you I got it at a great price $379 and keep in mind, it is not a wildlife moving target lens but it works well for landscape. People and kids, yeah, birds inflight, no. Paired with my 5D MK III it is my go to grand kid set up and well worth it

My experience with this lens wasn't so good let me tell you why I reallly really really wanted this lens so much it was on discount then it went up again to the regular price I called BH and they were kind enough and so helpful like the best ordering experience ever !!! But here's the problem when I received the lens I thought It would work out of the camera turns out it's doesn't so I ordered The tap in turns out that didn't work I called Tamron and they explained that you need the original canon adapter to be able to take advantage of the auto focus this is something you have to take in mind im so disappointed because I'm going to the ppa on Sunday and I wanted To use the lens other wise I would Have giving it the 5 stars but thank you BH !! I love Your service

question

Does this lens have focus breathing? Has anyone tested specifically for it?
Asked by: Cengiz
Tony and Chelsea Northrup tested this lens against a bunch of other similar lenses, and concluded there was NO focus breathing, iirc. The lens was judged equal to the other lenses they tested, and better than some of the "big names". Even tho I have the Nikon AF S 70-300 4.5-5.6 lens, and like it very much, I am almost ready to buy this one.

How about the autofocus speed and accuracy? I'm a boxing and MMA shooter and concerned about AF speed.
Asked by: Julio
This Tamron f/4 zoom is slower to focus than a Nikon f/4 70-200 and also slower than any f/2.8 lens. It might be acceptable for fast action indoors on a D500, since you can leave it on f/4 and get up to 10 FPS on continuous high. It would not be my choice for the type of photography you are doing.
