The Custom L-Bracket for Sony a7 III, a7R III and a9 from Sunwayfoto is a solid single-piece design that is CNC machined from T6061 aluminum with a Type-III anodized finish for durability. The Arca-type compatible L-bracket can mount in both a vertical or horizontal orientation. Also, on the bottom of each axis are located dual safety stops as a precaution against the L-bracket from sliding out if the quick release clamp is partially opened by accident.

Sunwayfoto PSL-A7RIII Overview

The Custom L-Bracket for Sony a7 III, a7R III and a9 from Sunwayfoto is a solid single-piece design that is CNC machined from T6061 aluminum with a Type-III anodized finish for durability. The Arca-type compatible L-bracket can mount in both a vertical or horizontal orientation. Also, on the bottom of each axis are located dual safety stops as a precaution against the L-bracket from sliding out if the quick release clamp is partially opened by accident.

The camera mounts to the bracket via a 1/4"-20 male threaded screw, and the anti-twist lip on the plate prevents and minimizes any movement between the camera and the bracket. The camera's ports are completely accessible, but the 1/4"-20 mounting screw can loosen and readjust to allow the camera to slide apart to give more room for other cables. At the same time, the battery chamber and the tilting LCD screen are not blocked from being opened or to move freely about.

An excellent buy that stopped the camera from sliding whenever I tilted the ball head sideways. This L-bracket allows me to switch the camera without the need of tilting the ball head and gives me a better control of the camera over the tripod.'

Should have bought this instead of RRS L-Bracket

I have one camera with the outrageously expensive RRS-L bracket and one with this Sunywayfoto L-bracket. I found that the Sunwayfoto has a better design for my needs. It is easier to tether with this head then the RRS. And much easier to remove and replace the camera's batteries. Highly recommend saving your money and buy this L-Bracket.

It's a bit tight to get cables into their ports on the left side - always a struggle. I also am one of the ones that has to tighten the hand screw on the bottom because it comes loose ALL the time, no matter how much a tighten. I am looking for a replacement. I can't keep interrupting a shoot to tighten my L-bracket.

The L bracket is essential for a photographer's convenience allowing vertical and horizontal orientation. It makes it so convenient just to flip the camera on the ball head. At a moderate price, this is a no brainer.

Several reviews mentioned that the bracket wiggles a bit even when tightened down completely. Is it possible this is due to the screw being a tiny bit too long and bottoming out before the plate makes full contact with the camera?

Yes, if one uses a Fotopro M5i with a "head" that offers a Arca type QR mount, such as the FPH-53P this will dovetail.

There is a 1/4"-20 mounting point you can screw your PD capture plate to. Without the plate, this L-bracket will not go into your capture clip.

Will this fit a Sony A7R2 (A7Rii) without impeding any buttons or the battery door? I know it states that it will fit newer A7III A7R3.

No that we are aware of. This bracket is specifically for the A7RIII and A9, which have a different design from the older A7RII.

No, I don't believe it will. The III and 9 versions use the Z battery and therefore the grip is wider. The original A7 used a smaller battery with a narrower grip profile.
