Studio Essentials PST24 Overview

Ideal for photographing small objects and products for ecommerce, cataloging, and other tabletop work, the 24" Pop-Up Shooting Tent from Studio Essentials is a white, translucent enclosure with a steel frame that allows you to light your subject from outside the tent for a soft, shadowless, fully detailed image.

The 24 x 24 x 24" tent is translucent on all sides, so you can place lights all around it for differences in light intensity that lend modeling to your product. With an additional support, two chairs for instance, you can also light from below to give the impression that your subject is floating in space. For different effects, Studio Essentials has included black, white, red, and blue backgrounds. This is also a great opportunity to use Studio Essentials' optional high-gloss black and white Magnetic Display Table inside the tent for sophisticated, tech-looking shots. To conserve space and pack easily, the tent folds flat to 12 x 12 x 2.5".

Just what I needed

Well, wanted, actually; I try to distinguish between wants and needs. I have a number of small curios that I wanted to photograph, and this worked out perfectly. There are two extra separate panels that allow control of back lighting and reflection and such. Then it folds up and goes on a shelf or in a drawer. Forget about trying to get it back into the black bag, but it works well for the extra panels.

The plastic inserts are easily creased. Would be better if they were made with cotton as there is also less reflection off them.

Ideal for the home shooter.  Easy setup.  Had to iron the backdrops to get rid of the creases.  Love it and will be using it a lot.

not sure how to fold this up so it fits in the carrying case. Any suggestions?
Asked by: Michael
If your carrying case is the size (or slightly larger than) one side, yes the sides are foldable as though you can stack them on top of each other. In fact there's a velcro strip that holds it together. The frame is thin metal so there's no way to make this smaller than one side (24").

Is there a zippered opening on the top so I can shoot down from above?
Asked by: Jamie
The only opening is in the front but all the sides are translucent, so you can lay it on it's "back" and shoot down from the opening. The one I got has a cover for the open side that velcros onto it with a slit in it so I guess you could still even light from above (or in this case the shooting side). I hope that helps.
