ELAC DB62-BK overview

  • 1Description

Enjoy balanced stereo sound with your amplifier and this pair of ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers. They feature a 2-way design with a 1" cloth dome tweeter and a 6.5" woven aramid-fiber cone woofer. The speakers accept up to 120W of power from your amplifier, have a 44 Hz to 35 kHz frequency response, and were designed by Andrew Jones.

Tweeter with Wide-Dispersion Waveguide
The tweeter features a wide-roll surround and brings response up to 35 kHz for enhanced high frequencies. The waveguide also helps improve directivity control and eliminate the diffraction modes common to speaker enclosures.
Woven Aramid-Fiber Woofer
The shape of the aramid fiber cone is designed to offer augmented stiffness and damping characteristics over polypropylene or paper cones, helping to achieve a smoother, extended low-frequency response. The woofer also features an oversized magnet and a vented pole piece.
Braced MDF Cabinets
The cabinets are internally braced for enhanced stiffness and strength, reducing cabinet vibrations that cause unwanted coloration. Moving the bass port to the front of the cabinet means placement against walls or in bookshelves won't compromise performance.

    ELAC DB62-BK reviews

Debut 2.0 B6.2 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers (Pair) is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Speakers I'm currently using these as my main LR speakers in my home setup, and will soon use them as surrounds. Even for a large space, these perform admirably. Bass extension is satisfyingly deep for a speaker of this size and highs are detailed without being fatiguing. Being on the lower sensitivity side, these do require a fair amount of power to drive. I have mine hooked up to a Yamaha RX-V1083 AVR and have run YPAO. I have heard the original Debut's described as muddy and recessed, but these sound quite balanced and open. Recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A+ Unless you have $ to burn, save it. You won’t regret trying these. Just astounding for the price. Push with a nice clean amp and these will let you hear everything you need to hear. Great size to boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just buy these! I don't know why there are so few reviews about the B6.2's. These are incredible, especially for the price! Bass is loud, deep, and tight, not muddy or boomy. Mids are excellent, Highs are nearly perfect, not harsh in my opinion. Imaging is clear and precise. Music sounds awesome through these speakers without the need for a sub. Home Theatre requires a sub of course, and they blend perfectly with the sub set to 80hz crossover, no gaps. Front ported design is a plus, I can put these within inches of the wall and they sound great. They look good, have decent weight and very nice build quality. The only weak point I noticed is when playing on low volume you have to compensate the bass/treble balance, but that happens to a lot of speakers. You probably need to push between 50-100 "clean watts" into each channel, then they really shine!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excedes expectations Wow. I have been wanting these speakers ( actually their predecessors) for a long time now. I finally took the plunge, and could not be happier! I am still putting thses speakers through the paces, but I am so pleased with the warm rich sound in every format I try. Great range, bass is full but not boomy-very musical (if that makes any sense). I dont think you can go wrong buying thses speakers. Love them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning! Frankly, I was trying to save some money and purchased the Debut 2.0 B5's and was disappointed- boxing and midrangy; so I exchanged them for the updated Debut 2.0 6.2 and wow!. Night and day over the B5's. Open, clear, detailed and the front port makes it less boomy for my placement near a wall. Truly amazing set of speakers.
