JOBY GripTight PRO TelePod Reviews
Not solidly built TelePod
The phone grip is built solid but the rest of the TelePod is not as solid. I bought it on sale. I would not pay full price due to the light construction on the TelePod.
The first word that comes to mind is versatility. It has multiple functions and almost endless uses. The construction quality is excellent and its easy to use.
Good enough for what I use it for
I purchased this unit to review before recommending to my clients who do at home content creation. All in all, it's a selfie stick, and that's what I expected. The GripTight head is the best part and the reason I bought this in the first place. The ability to more tightly mount a phone in the head vs. other rubber or elastic phone clamps gave me much more confidence that the phone wouldn't fall out while moving. Overall the build quality is fine. My main issue has been that it lacks a pan knob to orient the camera in different directions compared to the feet. It seems the only way to change that marginally is to overtighten or under tighten the GripTight Pro head on the Telepod's 1/4 20 screw. Meanwhile, you're fighting the Telepod's twist lock to keep the pole extended. It's a little awkward. I haven't used any other selfie stick style tripods so I don't know how this one compares. Overall, I'm satisfied with it and have gotten plenty of use out of it, but you may find you get better value by buying the GripTight pro head separately and getting a sturdier monopod with a tripod foot to support it. YMMV.
Functional but limited
Works as described but as already reviewed the clamp will not securely hold my phone (iPhone Xs Max)with a UAG case) in the vertical position without it slipping down. You have to remove the the phone from its case in order to ensure that it's securely held in place in the even you want to use shoot in the vertical position. Also there is no way to rotate the phone/camera horizontally without physically rotating the TelePod itself.
JOBY griptight pro telepod
It is okay quality for the price even on sale. It has all the best features such as compact in size, tripod with extension and ball head etc bury looks too flimsy. For the price close to solid phone gimbals available in market, this could have been more sturdy.
Solid and reliable
I’m a college professor and with the pandemic, I had to find ways to adapt my lessons via videos. Easy to use, well made and does what I expect. I love that it can store easily and light enough to carry around. It fit my iPhone 12 max pro.
Not worth the price
Grip is cheaply made and flimsy. Not worth the price, even on sale. I'd return it if I didn't have to deal with customs refunds.
Very nice design
While it's kind of expensive for what it is. The pull and twist design is quick to extend. Another great feature is the tripod grip. Def will not slip from your hand even if you get it wet.
