The dual Cfast 2.0 & SD card slots work perfectly. Also, the strong magnetic bottom keeps the reader firmly in place on my computer's case!

An AWESOME product

The ProGrade Digital Dual-Slot CFAST and SD Reader is a fantastic product. Presently, I am filming 16 short narrative scenes for SUNY Purchase College's Senior BFA Acting program. We're shooting BRAW 12:1 along with a 3D LUT onto CFAST cards and the sound recorded to SD cards. The ProGrade Digital Dual-Slot reader saves us time by allowing us to transfer (CheckSum) CFAST and SD content simultaneously to our media drives. This dual card reader is AWESOME! Sincerely, Gomez Creative Media

I replaced another card reader with this one. I'd been having trouble getting the reader to mount. The problem appears to be with the PCI card I'm plugging into. Both card readers work fine in any other configuration other than when I'm plugged into the PCI card I'm using. Wish that the sales person would have taken the time to understand my problem.

I purchased this for use with CFAST cards. I already had an SD card reader. I would have liked this better if it also sported a microSD slot. But I keep adapters around for that purpose anyway. I don't mind the magnet on the bottom, but I'm not sure what to stick it on. I like the looks of the unit, and the flat top allows me to also stack things on it now and then. I've only used it a few times so far, but it feels plenty robust, and reads plenty fast.

Just got it, so it's working perfectly!

Disappointing to read about the slower speeds from the verified buyers here. I get 270MB/sec transfer speeds from UHS-II 300MB/sec rated Sony or Lexar cards using a Sony SD USB-C Reader. My ports are USB-C Gen 2. I'd like to get 300MB/sec or higher and it seems this reader is NOT the one to get?
Asked by: Lionel
Hi Lionel, Thanks for your question. We have found that the ProGrade Digital Readers are some of the fastest on the market utilizing USB 3.1 Gen 2. You can transfer from both cards simultaneously at the full speed of the cards. Contact our support team at [email protected] to discuss more details about your scenario. Thanks, - ProGrade Digital

Why is my transfer speed so slow? I only get speeds of about 40MB/s with this. I have a Lexar that I get normal speeds from.
Asked by: Emilio
If you are receiving the transfer speeds you state in your answer, I would first recommend checking the computer USB port you are using and verifying that it supports USB 3.1 transfer speeds. While the card reader is backwards-compatible, if you are using a USB 3.1 device on a computer that uses USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 ports, you will receive the slower transfer speeds denoted by your computer. If your computer USB ports are USB 3.1 or USB 3.0 compliant, I would then recommend checking that the memory card you are using has a read speed high enough for your transfer needs, as the memory card's read speed would be the next bottleneck in the system. If the read speed is faster than your transfer speed, I would then recommend either contacting Customer Service if the order was placed within the last 30 days, or recommend contacting ProGrade Digital for warranty inquiry if the purchase was placed longer than 30 days ago.

Can this reader also read the older type 1 compact flash cards?
Asked by: Barry
Thank you for the inquiry. Please note CFast 2.0 and Compact Flash (CF) are entirely different memory card standards relying on unique underlying technologies that are not interchangeable. Prograde Digital does offer a Dual-slot Compact Flash (CF) and SD Workflow Reader. However, Compact Flash (CF) cards are incompatible with CFast workflow reader or digital camera card slots and visa versa. For more complete information and technical specification regarding ProGrade Digital workflow readers please see: https://progradedigital.com/products/high-speed-workflow-reader. Thank you again for your interest in experiencing firsthand the ProGrade Digital performance advantage.

Any issue/concerns with this reader having a magnet built in? Makes me nervous around my HDDs, laptop and camera gear.
Asked by: Anthony
I have not had any issue with this reader. However I use it with my PC. If I where going to take with equipment that was sensitive to a magnet. I would put a metal plate over the magnet. The magnet is not that strong but why take a change. P.S. It's a great reader.

question

Is the CF slot backward compatible to CF UDMA7? Also is the SDXC slot backward compatible to UHS-I?
Asked by: Ken
Are you talking CFast UDMA7? The term CF is used for both CompactFlash and and confused with CFast. This is a CFast reader. The SDXC slow would be backwardly compatible with other SD cards but would be limited to the read and write speeds supported by the cards. This is a USB 3.1 Gen 2 reader, which is what makes it attractive.
