GTX STUDIO GS-LEDRL96 overview

  • 1Description

Capable of bathing your subject with soft, flattering, near-shadowless light, the 18" 480 LED Ring Light from GTX Studio is a fun and versatile tool for portraits, hair styling, cosmetics, selfies, and vlogging. The light has a wide 120-degree beam angle and color that's variable from 3200 to 5500K to match ambient light, existing fixtures, or just for creative effects. The ring light is dimmable too, saving you the hassle of moving the unit back and forth for the right illumination level. Color and light intensity settings are displayed on the rear LED readout.

An included 2-way mirror mounts within the light's 12" inner diameter allowing you to check out your look before taking a selfie or vlogging using the provided smartphone holder. The 480 LED Ring Light is ready for worldwide use thanks to its universal 100-240 VAC power adapter but it can also run on optional L-series type batteries when mains power is unavailable.

    GTX STUDIO GS-LEDRL96 reviews

480 LED Ring Light (18") is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Ring-Light for YouTubers I work with a lot of YouTubers/Influencers, and this is easily one of the better ring lights I've ever worked with. It's light, it dims, and you can adjust the color temperature. It's also got a high CRI rating. Additionally, unlike most ring lights, it's got a battery option with connections for two Sony NP-F batteries. It's just super flexible and it's been working perfectly for me thus far. I can't speak to the longevity as I've only had it a month, but it seems very sturdy and well-made. So if you need a ring light, this is definitely one of the better ones.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Affordable, lightweight, does the job I shopped for a battery-powered, bi-color, dim-able, 95+ CRI beauty dish for quite a bit and went with this for it's features and price. I've just unboxed it and so far it's met my expectations. The battery option is super nice (and also takes the same batteries as other lights I own, very convenient). It's built a little cheaply, but that's to be expected for the $150 price tag. My only disappointment is that attaching an actual camera to the light is difficult because of the hot-shoe connection point. The provided camera mount is designed for a phone; you can use it for a real camera but the design doesn't allow for the camera to screw in tightly AND fit on the hot shoe. So your camera will be a little loosey-goosey (so use sandbags and take care if you're mounting your camera on it!). For a client shoot, I'd probably shoot handheld through the light or mount the camera on a tripod next to the light stand. The light gets pretty bright but isn't enough to balance out bright day-lit backgrounds (no surprises there). Overall it does the job, and for the price, I think it's a great value so far.
