Designed for gaming, the aluminum black 15.6" Aero 15W v8-BK4 Notebook from Gigabyte is equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card with 6GB of GDDR5 RAM, a 15.6" IPS anti-glare display with a Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution, a 144 Hz refresh rate, and support for NVIDIA Optimus technology. The core of this system is driven by a 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7-8750H processor, which can be overclocked up to 4.1 GHz, plus 16GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM. Storage is provided by a 512GB SATA M.2 SSD.

If you want to add external storage, optical drives, memory card readers, and more, the 15W v8-BK4 offers one 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt 3 port that also supports 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Type-C and DisplayPort 1.2, plus one 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A port and two 5 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports. You'll also be able to output video to an external display HDMI 2.0 and mini DisplayPort 1.4 ports.

Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi are built-in for wired and wireless networking, and Bluetooth 4.2 LE technology will also allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals. Content from memory cards may be accessed via a built-in SD card reader that supports UHS-II flash media. Other integrated features include a 720p webcam, an internal mic, dual 2W speakers with Dolby Atmos audio, and a Gigabyte Fusion per Key RGB keyboard.

Gigabyte's Aero 15W v8-BK4 operates using a 94.24Wh lithium-ion polymer battery and includes a 150W AC adapter. The installed operating system is Windows 10 Home (64-bit) and protection is provided by a limited 2-year global warranty.

General Features

Thunderbolt 3
Thunderbolt 3 is a hardware interface that utilizes the reversible USB Type-C connector. Doubling the speed of its predecessor, Thunderbolt 3 features a maximum throughput of 40 Gb/s when used with compatible devices. The connector also transmits data via USB 3.1 at up to 10 Gb/s, and dual-bandwidth DisplayPort 1.2 allows you to connect up to two 4K displays simultaneously. Additionally, you can daisy chain up to six devices from a single Thunderbolt 3 port.
144 Hz Display
A 144 Hz refresh rate helps to eliminate stuttering and jitters, so you'll be able to enjoy smooth gameplay and react instantly to your game.
NVIDIA Optimus
NVIDIA Optimus is a computer GPU switching technology which, depending on the resource load generated by client software applications, will seamlessly switch between integrated and dedicated graphics adapters within a computer system in order to provide either maximum performance or minimum power draw from the system's graphics rendering hardware.
Dual M.2 2280 Slots
The Aero 15W v8-BK4 has two M.2 2280 slots, one of which contains the system's 512GB SATA M.2 SSD and supports both PCIe and SATA storage. The second M.2 slot is empty and only supports PCIe storage.
Up to 32GB RAM
Two DDR4 slots support 32GB of 2666 MHz RAM, or 16GB per slot.

Windows 10

Start Menu
After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.
Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana, can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the Internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her Notebook, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information-gathering skills.
Microsoft Edge
After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With Microsoft Edge, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.
Windows Store
For Windows 10, Microsoft has unified the Windows Store. Now, apps for PCs, tablets, and phones will all be accessible from one place. And with support for Universal Apps, one version of an app can work across all your compatible devices automatically.
Windows Continuum
Windows 10 was designed for a variety of screen sizes and input styles, and with its Continuum feature, it automatically adapts to fit your needs. A Windows 10 tablet on its own requires a touch-centric approach, but attaching a mouse and keyboard will shift everything to a more traditional interface. You can even attach an external monitor to your Windows 10 phone for a near-desktop experience. But it's not just the operating system; Windows Universal Apps take advantage of Continuum as well.
Xbox on Windows 10
Gaming is a big focus of Windows 10. Xbox integration allows for PC players to match up against Xbox One players on supported games, and if you have an Xbox One, you can even stream compatible titles to your PC. Native support for recording with the new Game DVR feature makes it easy to capture and share your gameplay. The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.

    Gigabyte Aero 15W reviews

    15.6" Aero 15W v8-BK4 Notebook is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well built but missing some obvious features As a video editor who often has to get projects done quick in the field, I needed a powerful laptop that could handle 4k footage and render it out quickly. I also wanted something I could use on the plane and wouldn't be too obtrusive, so basically power, size, and battery life were key. After much research, it was a hard decision between the Aero 15W, and the new Dell XPS 15. Both have good screens, the same CPU, similar form factor and price. The Gigabyte is perhaps not as refined as the Dell, More plastic, less fancy carbon fiber, the track pad is probably not as good, but it had some features that made it stand out including a much better GPU, 10 key, extra m.2 slot for another SSD, and better external port options for plugging in drives. Upon loading windows for the first time, it was unusually slow and kind of glitchy, the xrite color calibration software was hanging up, updates were not downloading the first time, a lot of restarts required, and the included gigabyte software threw some errors. After finally getting all the updates installed, it's running fine. Pros: - The size is great, small screen & keyboard bezel, no wasted space. - It has a 10 key, which is good for number crunching. - Fast, great performance. - Extra M.2 Slot - Keyboard is nice, responsive, has a bit of a clicky feel to it, no flex. - Nice number of ports for plugging in external devices, everything you need is there. Cons - No lights for caps lock and num-lock. STUPID! Most other laptops have a light or the key itself lights up, but this one has gigabyte software installed that pops up on the screen when you turn the locks on or off. Very annoying and you have no way of telling when those are on or off unless you punch them. - Bloatware. Unfortunately much of it is necessary to control the hardware. Gigabyte has relied too much on software when they could have just have just had a button or led light. - Kind of glitchy at start up, I was having regrets right away but it smoothed out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All around great laptop Suits everything I needed - elegant, professional look, good build quality, super light with ultra thin bezel and 144Hz screen, long lasting battery, powerful CPU and GPU, good thermals, very little bloatware, and on top of that, a Taiwanese brand ;) Can sometimes get hot when gaming, the mouse freezes randomly around/right after startup, the keyboard and sound quality aren't fantastic. But these are minor qualms with an altogether fantastic laptop.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Aero 15x is a Jack-of-all-trades laptop First Impressions: This is a solid laptop! The chassis is rigid and the build quality overall is what I expected for a laptop in this price range. This feels like a premium laptop. Good: - The Screen, 1080p, 144Hz: it's fluid, sharp, and bright. Coming from a MacBook which has really bright screens, I did not really notice much difference, despite the fact that the online stats of brightness nits seem to say overwise. - Expandability. It comes with two M.2 slots and instead of two sticks of 8gb memory, Gigabyte gives you one stick of 16gb, making more economical to upgrade to 32gb of memory. Bravo Gigabyte. Also, easy of access, a couple of screws and you're in. Not-So-Good: - Touchpad. Out of the box, it is very finicky. Palm rejection is iffy. However, this can be made tolerable by micromanaging the touchpad settings. - Speakers. It sounds thin and narrow. The optimal position seems to be my face right against the screen, which makes audio sound distant and far away. Having said that, it's passable and gets the job done. My MacBook Air's speakers runs circles around these. - The fans have a whorling sound to them. Kind of whinny, but as far as I can tell, it is doing it's good. - Disclaimer: I'm not sure if this is a Windows 10 issue, or an issue with the laptop. There are moments when I launch an app the mouse and screen will freeze for a solid second. It reminds me of the brief pauses you experience when a hard drive needs to spin up back in the day. Nitpicks: - The edge of the chassis where you wrists rests on is a little sharp. Obviously this depends on your typing posture. - I've read other reviews that mentioned issues with the keyboard, either not registering or over-registering. I've encountered the former on occasion. But I attribute it to the fault of membrane keyboards in general. It was not an issue let alone a deal breaker. Note: I've not installed any firmware updates for the keyboard. The keyboard layout is a little tight with the numpad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Purchase! My laptop just came in and has been working great. Although it crashed once, it rebooted and has had no problems since. It is very sleek and has an absolutely gorgeous display. I was choosing between this and the MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro-230 and am completely content with my choice. Definitely worth the money, especially compared to other laptops of the same price range.

Insane battery life, gorgeous screen, and really slim design, this laptop is incredible!
