Not very good for newbie

I'm very new to these monitors, so the lack of instruction on all the accessories needed is very aggravating. First I didn't realize I needed a hard drive, which was another $200, now I find out I can't download anything or even update the firmware without a Master Caddy Docking Station. For the price, it seems like the docking station would have been included. Or at least make it clear in the product info all the things necessary to do what I want to do. I have to wade through the Atomos website to find out everything I need.

Great solution for video with mirrorless cameras

I bought this to use with my Fuji X-T3 mainly to get around the 30 minute video limitation. As a bonus it makes a great external monitor since it is bigger than the screen on the Fuji. I've run this for a couple of hours with no glitches. It also has a ton of other useful features like audio monitoring, loadable LUTs, video monitors (WFM, etc.). Just a really great addition to the kit for anyone doing video with a mirrorless or dSLR camera.

Ninja V - newbie

A great addition to my Canon R6 for B camera on our video shoots. As a monitor, I and able mount the screen on the small rig to see clearly from a comfortable distance when operating solo and when outside in the sunlight- no more squinting ; and the Ninja V delivers extras like the wave form and focus peaking for accurate exposures.

Great Monitor/Recorder!

I really enjoy using this recorder on my C100, and my C200 at work. This gives a great image, even on a bright day, and I absolutely love the record quality. I sometimes I wish I bought the SDI version, but I can't recommend this monitor/recorder enough. I used to use the Shoguns, but wanted something smaller for on-camera use.

Hello Douglas, you'll need 2 things, 1) the ninja V already comes with it (the battery eliminator) 2) is the Dtap to DC cable from atomos ATOMDTPCB2 which goes from the eliminator to Dtap.

question

Can I use it with Fujifilm Xh1 to record 60p 4K 10bit 422? What about Fujifilm Xt2?
Asked by: ek C.
You will be able to use the Ninja V with both cameras. However those cameras only output 4K at up to 30fps and 8-Bit 4:2:2. The camera most output at 60fps and 10-Bit for it to be recorded in that format, which those cameras do not.

There is no audio recorded in the video when I connected the Ninja V with my Sony A7iii? How to get the audio?
Asked by: RAJAN
If you are going HDMI out from your camera, into the HDMI port on the Ninja, you should receive whatever audio your camera is receiving. How are you getting audio into your Sony? Is there a setting within the camera's menu that can either deny or send audio through the camera's HDMI out port? I would start there. I've also found that the Atomos support personnel in the U.S. are extremely helpful with this sort of issue. There is a phone number to call their U.S. office in Oregon on the Atomos website.

Asked by: Thomas
H.265 HEVC is an optional paid activation for the Ninja V that allows for high quality, low bit rate capture. Unfortunately, it is not recording simultaneously with another format in the same device, but can be a back up to the internal recording on a camera. Further details can be seen here: https://www.atomos.com/h265-codec

Paired with the EOS R6, I only get the 59.97 framerate option in FullHD. Switching to 4k I get all the framerate options available. Is this a limitation of the EOS R6 or the Ninja V?
Asked by: Michael
Richard (Staff) gave the definitive answer, but I could mention that the sony A7S3 has a similar issue (you can get only 23.98 or 59.94) in HD, but the Lumix S1, S1R, S1H all are able to do 29.97 in HD paired with the Ninja V (as well as 23.98 and 59.94).
