Does what it says it does. Having both an HDMI and an SDI out, it's versatile. Appreciate the ability to enable/customize the labels.

During one of our multi-camera live switches a request was made to give the stage manager a Multiview of our program out, Multiview out, stage display (from propresenter) and their stage clock. The Multiview 4 HD was the perfect device to make this happen and send out a quad split to a 48 TV. We ran this device non stop for 12 hours a day 3 days in a row.

for passing hd video to a directors monitor, or just converting sdi to hdmi, this is great. We velcro it to the back of a computer monitor with a sun hood.

Good product but: the HDMI-output is 1920*1080 max. The two other models support UHD as Output to 4K monitors.

this product is working fantastic. my issue with it is that Blackmagic needs to upgrade it to have personalised name tag for each of the sdi preview output.

Does its job

Working just fine, all our sources are 1080/59.94. Only real gripe is how annoying it is to change the labels. You have to connect it with USB-C to a computer running the software package that is specific for this model, it does not use the same package that works with all the mini converters.

From my research the answer is a no, but can it take 2 inputs and flip the monitor vertically to fill the screens? Meaning, if I use only 2 camera inputs and use the monitor like iPad, can it show 2 inputs top and bottom with maximizing screen real estate?
Asked by: Yuki
Unfortunately no, the multiview layout is a 2x2 grid and is not alterable.

MultiView 4 HD can be used with Blackmagic's Videohub Control Software that allows for audio input source selection with sources that have embedded audio; the multiview will display the audios metering.

Do all of the inputs need to be the same video format? I see it supports 1080p60 but will it accept a mix of 1080p60 and 1080p30 on the inputs?
Asked by: Stephen
No, each input is independent. We have several different resolutions coming into ours. From Blackmagic's website: "You get full frame re‑synchronization on all SDI inputs, which means that they can be any video standard and frame rate, and each input is completely independent of the others."

I know it's not for this, but has anyone tried putting a quad 4k signal into this?
Asked by: Ryan
If you feed it a 4K UHD quad-link SDI signal (square division), it will display the 4 images as 1. However, since it's not designed for that there may be tearing in the video.

question

Does this allow you to do custom layouts? For instance if I'm only using 2 inputs, can I make input 1 full screen and input 2 in the lower right corner?I'm also looking at the DECIMATOR DMON-QUAD 4-Channel 3G-SDI Multiviewer which has custom layouts, but also costs $100 more.
Asked by: Aaron K.
No. There is only 4x4 output.

question

1) Is it possible to simultaneously output from both the HDMI and SDI ports so as to drive to external displays with the quad signal ?2) When viewing the quad signal on an output display, can one view only one of the four quadrants enlarged, and if so, is this control capability found on the Multiview Menu or on the touchscreen of the Display Monitor3) And would a choice of one or two viewing quadrants simultaneously affect both the outgoing HDMI and SDI signals, or can it be selective ?
Asked by: Peter H.
1) Yes both HDMI and SDI are active with the Mulitiview output. 2) The ability to Solo a single input is available through the DIP switches on the side. The bottom of the MV has a chart for the DIP switch settings also found in the manual. 3) With the MV4 you can display the 2x2 or Solo modes.
