HIVE LIGHTING Hornet 200-C Overview

The Hornet 200-C Adjustable Fresnel Omni-Color LED Light from Hive is a versatile 2.6 lb LED light source that measures 9" in length and 4" in diameter, making it a great choice for tight spaces with minimal support requirements. The light has a 15 to 50° beam spread for flooding out a silk or for long throw work and selective lighting. The beam can be further modified by the included 4-way barndoors.

Control is the key word in the construction of the 200-C. Hive uses what they call Perfect S.H.O.T controls which is an umbrella term for complete control and adjustment of every aspect of light output. Part of the success of the system is due to the use of 7 LED-chip blending. Instead of the traditional 3 colors, Hive uses red, amber, lime, cyan, green, blue, and sapphire for nearly infinite color combinations with a high CRI/TLCI rating of 98 and 97. Color can be adjusted from a very warm amber 1650K to an icy blue 8000K. But control doesn't stop there. There's 360-degree hue adjustment around the color wheel as well as 0 to 100% saturation control. The 200-C can also be dimmed from 0 to 100%. While you can make all these adjustments manually, you can also make them remotely via your smartphone or onboard wired or wireless DMX. Thanks to its 100 to 240 VAC power supply, the 200-C is ready for worldwide use but it will also run on optional, identical 14.4V batteries in series using a HIVE Y-cable adapter, for situations where when mains power is unavailable

Perfect S.H.O.T. Controls
The 200-C has 0 to 100% saturation adjustment, 360° hue control, output control from 0 to 100%, and color temperature control from 1650 to 8000K for nearly infinite combinations for precise color balance.
7-Color Chip
The 200-C uses red, amber, lime, cyan, blue, green, and sapphire LEDs instead of the traditional 3-color system to achieve a high CRI/TLCI of 98/97 to render colors faithfully with no output loss or color degradation.
Bluetooth and Wireless DMX
The 200-C has 128-channel onboard wireless DMX with a range of 500' and Bluetooth with a wireless range of 50'.
Low Power Draw, Battery or AC Power
The Wasp 200-C uses just 150W to produce light output comparable to a 650-1000W incandescent. Its 9" length and multiple mounting points allow for easy rigging to cameras, drones, practicals, stages, and sets. The 200-C can run off a battery or universal wall power.
Small and Lightweight
The 200-C is 9" long and weighs 2.6 lb.

If I wanted to use some sort of DC power distro, what would that be? To find a DC power source with enough amp output, I'd need to know if the max consumption of a 200-C 150W at 24V or 36V?
Asked by: Roger
150W at 24V is about 6 amps. 150W at 36V is just under 4 amps.

Do I need any extra accessories to mount this on a "5/8 stub on a scissor clamp?
Asked by: Ty
This version is designed to be hung from a pipe. To put it on a standard 5/8 baby pin you would need a mount like this one https://bhpho.to/2x3FJ3y.

With colors, how bright is this fixture? I want to hit a mottled dark muslin backdrop about 10 feet away. Some have said I need the equivalent of 650 watts. Yes? No?
Asked by: Ty
This fixture will pretty easily be visible on a dark background at 10'. Bright is a relative thing It depends on if it is for the human eye or for a camera and what those settings are.

question

Why would I get the 22 degree spot versions if i can get the spot to flood? Is there a disadvantage with the spot to flood version?
Asked by: Adam W.
One of the main advantages of the C-Series lights is that they work with dozens of reflectors and hundreds of accessories, and while this provides tons of flexibility, there are pros and cons to each reflector. Here are the most popular versions you are asking about:Hornet 200-C Super Spot - This provides the tightest beam (22 deg) and most amount of punch for the light. It creates a Parabolic beam type of output and can be used as a bounce or long throw. It can also be modified with optional drop in lenses.Hornet 200-C Adjustable Fresnel - The Fresnel version provides the ability to spot and flood the fixture quickly and easily without changing the reflector. While the 15-50 degree beam spread provides a much wider range than the Spot Reflector, the glass itself (like all glass) does block a higher percentage of the light than the Spot Reflector. So for maximum output choose the spot, and for maximum flexibility choose the fresnel. Also, since virtually all of the reflectors, fresnels, softboxes and other optical accessories are all interchangeable throughout the C-Series line, you can mix and match to get these exact output and beam shape that you are looking for.I hope that answers your question!
