Lenovo Ideapad 720s overview

  • 1Description

The 13.3" Ideapad 720s Notebook from Lenovo is a well-rounded system capable of handling everyday tasks such as browsing the internet, streaming TV shows and movies, and even playing games. Powered by a 1.6 GHz Intel Core i5-8250U quad-core processor and 8GB of DDR4 RAM, it can efficiently multitask and quickly access frequently used files and programs. For storing your documents, movies, and data, it has a 256GB PCIe SSD. Should you need more space, you can connect external storage solutions using its multiple USB ports.

Its 13.3" display, driven by integrated Intel UHD graphics, has a 1920 x 1080 display capable of delivering crisp, clear content. Moreover, a dedicated GPU will allow you to play graphically demanding games. Connect to the internet via 802.11ac Wi-Fi and pair compatible wireless peripherals using Bluetooth 4.1 to free up its USB ports for more important devices. Other integrated features include a Thunderbolt 3 port, a webcam, speakers, a microphone, a fingerprint reader, and a 3.5 mm combo audio jack. The operating system installed is Windows 10 .

Thunderbolt 3
Thunderbolt 3 is a hardware interface that utilizes the reversible USB Type-C connector. Doubling the speed of its predecessor, Thunderbolt 3 features a maximum throughput of 40 Gb/s when used with compatible devices. The connector also transmits data via USB 3.1 at up to 10 Gb/s, and dual-bandwidth DisplayPort 1.2 allows you to connect up to two 4K displays simultaneously. Additionally, you can daisy chain up to six devices from a single Thunderbolt 3 port.

Windows 10

Start Menu
After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.
Cortana
Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana, can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the Internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her Notebook, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information-gathering skills.
Microsoft Edge
After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With Microsoft Edge, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.
Windows Store
For Windows 10, Microsoft has unified the Windows Store. Now, apps for PCs, tablets, and phones will all be accessible from one place. And with support for Universal Apps, one version of an app can work across all your compatible devices automatically.
Windows Continuum
Windows 10 was designed for a variety of screen sizes and input styles, and with its Continuum feature, it automatically adapts to fit your needs. A Windows 10 tablet on its own requires a touch-centric approach, but attaching a mouse and keyboard will shift everything to a more traditional interface. You can even attach an external monitor to your Windows 10 phone for a near-desktop experience. But it's not just the operating system; Windows Universal Apps take advantage of Continuum as well.
Xbox on Windows 10
Gaming is a big focus of Windows 10. Xbox integration allows for PC players to match up against Xbox One players on supported games, and if you have an Xbox One, you can even stream compatible titles to your PC. Native support for recording with the new Game DVR feature makes it easy to capture and share your gameplay. The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.

    Lenovo Ideapad 720s reviews

    13.3" Ideapad 720s Notebook is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from critique of Lenovo 13.3 and issues industry wide Generally, thumbs up. However, appropriate criticism needs be made. Unit delivers on size, comfort of use. Wanted same with more RAM and larger size not available/affordable. This unit is an acceptable + stopgap. While affordable, it is not an ultimate machine at bargain price. How much value this model provides is IRRELEVANT. Consumers are being held hostage by all manufacturers. We used to have modular options, where we could readily upgrade RAM and drive size. The ability to do that drove down cost of those items. That is no longer the case. Assembly is basically fused, no access. So we consumers are forced to make a choice at point of purchase and live with it; if we want to upgrade, we have to sell the machine and buy new. With RAM/solid state drive prices artificially high. Unacceptable. This also deprives user of ultimate control if operation freezes; previously able to completely stop process by removing battery while unplugged. Unacceptable. Other than running too hot, Toshiba Portege highest end was top standard. Hard cover, screen edge to edge, total access. The length of screen edge to edge in this Lenovo is acceptably high, a big factor along with weight, size, comfort. But ALL manufacturers need to understand consumer, esp American consumer, is not stupid and is demanding. Ability to have high turnover and use of RAM and hard drives essential to competition and force ongoing component improvements, continuing price decline. We want motherboards slotted so it can handle 2-4 RAM chips, highest configurations. We want to choose that without penalty to do so. Ditto up to 1TB solid state drives To avoid user shortchanged on not recovering value of basic model, offer several models in several configurations, and/or allow for custom orders. MAKE ALL UNITS UPGRADEABLE AND MODULAR. Recognize supremacy of consumer. I repeat MODULAR w/access. Thank you.
