EVGA Z370 Classified K overview

  • 1Description

Built to bring mainstream performance to higher levels, the Z370 Classified K LGA 1151 ATX Motherboard from EVGA is designed to provide users with power and stability. This motherboard is designed to fit in ATX sized cases, supports the LGA 1151 socket, the Intel Z370 chipset, and is compatible with Windows 10 (64-bit).

The ATX form factor of the Z370 Classified K can support 64GB of DDR4 RAM, or 16GB in each of the four 288-pin DIMM slots at memory speeds of 4133+ MHz (OC). It also has a total of 6 x SATA III 6 Gb/s ports and 2 x M.2 Socket 3 (Key M) slots. Both M.2 slots support 80mm (2280) storage devices and the SATA ports support RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10. There is also one USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port, one USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A port, and six USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, all external at the back panel, as well as one USB 3.1 Gen 2 header, one USB 3.1 Gen 1 header (supports two ports), and two USB 2.0 headers (supports four ports), all internal. For those looking to expand their system using PCIe, there is one PCIe Gen 3.0 x16 (x16) slot, one PCIe Gen 3.0 x16 (x8) slot, one PCIe 3.0 x16 (x4) slot, and three PCIe 2.0 x1 slots.

The Z370 Classified K supports integrated graphics from the processor, and this video can be output using the DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 2.0 outputs. Dedicated graphics are also supported, and once that GPU is installed, multi-GPU is possible with 2-Way NVIDIA SLI + PhysX technology and 2-Way AMD CrossFire technology. Using the Creative Sound Core3D 5.1-channel audio codec, this motherboard delivers audio with high fidelity, which can be output using the five integrated 3.5mm audio jacks or one optical S/PDIF output. Network connectivity can be achieved using the dual Killer NIC E2500 Gigabit Ethernet jacks, or install a Wi-Fi card in the available M.2 Socket 1 Key E (32mm) slot. Included is an I/O shield, two SATA III data cables, a 2-Way SLI Bridge, an M.2 thermal pad, and a case badge. This motherboard is protected by a limited 3-year warranty.

    EVGA Z370 Classified K reviews

Z370 Classified K LGA 1151 ATX Motherboard is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very solid board - running Windows 7 As other mfrs have had increasing QA problems with boards with often shrinking feature sets, EVGA seems to remain as a builder of quality, full-featured products. I bought this board because of their reputation and my experience with other boards and video cards from them. My copy was free from any kind of mechanical defect. It fit in the case properly and the I/O shield is one of the few I've had that's lined up easily. It booted first time and has had no stability issues. It's just there. The OOBE was excellent, one of those experiences where you like the people who made the thing, before you've even turned it on. i7 8700K, no OC. Like other EVGA boards, there are on-board power and reset buttons, along with a POST readout. There's also a CMOS reset button on the I/O panel. The board has two USB 1/2 headers and one each of USB 3.0 and 3.1. It has six SATA ports. (What ever happened to having eight?) I'm running Windows 7 Pro on it. The driver install DVD will let you install Windows 10 drivers, which run in Windows 7, from the driver folders but not from the DVD autoplay GUI if you have Windows 7, except for the USB drivers, which won't install. Get the USB 3.0/3.1 drivers from Intel's site. I don't like the Killer Network app so I uninstalled that and manually installed the drivers by going to the device and the choosing the right inf file. (Choosing to not install the app, and just install the drivers, installed the drivers and the Killer service anyway.) The BIOS /EUFI is pretty barebones but that's OK with me; I'm not tweaking the thing. What's not OK, and the only complaint I have, is that the BIOS/EUFI is for the most part not documented in the manual. You'll need to figure out how to get into BIOS unless you read the note in the M.2 install section that tells you it's the F2 key. What settings should you use in BIOS for CSM? The manual doesn't even mention a CSM. The manual does mention that OC'ing is supported, and stresses that it doesn't void the warranty. It also comes with the now-normal flashing and rotating lights, making it look like some 1950's floodlight for a fake Christmas tree, but you can turn that off. On the whole, an excellent board from a solid manufacturer, but thin when it comes to BIOS options and BIOS documentation. This will be my standard board for this generation of processors.
