Alpine Astronomical FSOL-1 overview

  • 1Description

Ideal for viewing and imaging with Cassegrains and achromatic refractor optical tubes (OTAs) outfitted with a primary solar filter, the Alpine Astronomical Baader Solar Continuum Filter improves the contrast and reduces the appearance of atmospheric turbulence during solar viewing sessions. It is designed to be centered on the 540nm wavelength, with a narrow 10nm half-bandpass on either side of it—completely cutting out the blue and red wavelengths. The surface is dielectrically-coated with anti-reflection coatings to transmit the maximum amount of light through, and precision planeoptically polished to limit distortion and color fringing. It comes mounted for easy installation on just about any 1.25" eyepiece, diagonal, Barlow lens, or other accessory with standard 1.25" filter threads.

This is not a solar filter and requires the use of a primary broadband or narrow-band solar filter to prevent permanent eye damage, up to and including blindness.
