Manfrotto Befree Advanced Travel Carbon Fiber... Overview

Sporting a 19.8 lb load capacity at a weight of only 2.8 lb, this black Befree Advanced Travel Tripod from Manfrotto is a robust support option that can serve as a convenient travel companion for professional photographers and passionate hobbyists alike. Made of carbon fiber, the tripod reaches a maximum height of 59.1" with its column extended (50" with the column down) and offers a folded length of 16.1" for transport in its included carrying case.

Each leg of the Befree Advanced is composed of four sections, which can be adjusted and secured in seconds thanks to the M-lock twist locks that operate with a simple 90° turn. A side-pull selector allows you to set the leg at three different angle configurations, enabling low angle shooting with the simple push of a button. Complementing the legs is an equally sturdy center ball head, which offers a dedicated knob for panoramic movement as well as a friction control knob for precise control over the tension during use. The final element is a quick release plate, which offers dual compatibility for RC2 and Arca-type compatible systems, except for the Manfrotto 804-3W and MH804-3W tripod heads.

An Easy Link attachment is available at the top portion of the leg section, and allows you to connect compatible accessories such as flashes or reflectors. This enables you to use the tripod as a support system and reduce the amount of gear you need to carry while travelling. Additionally, rubberized feet are used to avoid skidding and help keep the Befree Advanced stable in most types of terrain.

  • Weighs 2.8 lb, can hold up to 19.8 lb of gear

Manfrotto Befree Advanced Travel Carbon Fiber... Reviews

It is lightweight and packs well

got it to pack and use with mirrorless and it works but being light you have to weigh it down - would not feel comfortable using for DSLR

Great Travel Tripod and it comes with it's own carrying bag!

I have used Manfrotto brand tripods for over 20 years. I have a heavy tripod that I use a pan head on, but it weighs a ton. I also have a monopod that I use occasionally.....all great, but awkward to take on the road or when hiking. I purchased this Befree Travel Tripod because I wanted something that was light to carry but strong enough to hold my Canon 5Ds with a Sigma 150-600mm lens with a 2x Teleconverter attached. This tripod can handle the weight and I love the carrying bag.

Great purchase.

All the quality you expect from Manfrotto.I can't wait for my upcoming trip to Cognac. Now I'll have room in my suitcase for clothing with this huge weight saving. I'm rapidly becoming a fan of ball heads, and the carrying case will protect the tripod and clothing in the suitcase.

I bought this to replace my Vanguard Alta Pro that I destroyed with salt water. I read solid reviews for this one, and it was highly-ranked. The switch from aluminum to carbon fiber came with the benefit of being lighter, and since this is a travel tripod, I really like how compact it is. I do also like the fact that the quick-release plate has a D-ring - my previous tripod had a cumbersome screw mechanism. I do also like the twist locks for the legs. Overall, I will be more willing to take this with me when traveling than I was previously. My only complaint is that it seems to lack sturdiness. This could just be an issue with the ball head. It does not feel very secure sometimes, and I have had my camera tip the head abruptly while trying to make fine adjustments with the head.

My favorite travel tripod

Took it to a 19mile hike and I even forgot it was mounted on my backpack. Very stable and lightweight at the same time.

The Manfrotto Carbon Fiber tripod is perfect for me. Lighter than my old one, also stronger. It is easy to set up then put away. Quite sturdy with my Nikon Z6ii and a 70-300 lens. I haven't used it yet with my 150-600 zoom but think it will be fine also. It's light enough and small enough that I can strap it to the side of my camera bag which holds one body and two lenses, etc. and still doesn't strain my back. I am 77 years old so weight is important to me.

The 1/4"-20 screws would be universal for all cameras, yes. However, stability and weight capacity would ultimately depend on your camera + lens combination.

Yes on both counts. Head is basic but I found it very serviceable as a travel tripod. Legs fold totally vertical (think rotating them up 180 degrees) wrap around head.
