Sony A6300 reviews

Alpha a6300 Mirrorless Digital Camera Street Photography Kit is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 436.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from High quality in a smal package I purchased this camera with a Sony FE 90mm F/2.8 macro lens for use as a compact underwater photography system. While my Nikon SLR underwater system is a more professional set-up but it's also twice the size. The Sony Alpha a6300 mirrorless bridges the gap between point and shoot cameras and SLR's providing very high quality in a small package. For traveling underwater photographers and photographers who carry a camera all day and want light weight and quality this is a camera to consider. There are also whole range of Sony, Canon and other lens that are compatible with many of the Sony products.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great images poor interface I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the images with the kit lenses (16-50 mm and the 55-210). The lenses are fairly slow glass but even at high ISOs the image quality is good and the noise is acceptable and can be handled by software. The user interface on the other hand can be much improved. It hurts that the display is not touch sensitive and you need to make the selections via the buttons or wheel. If you are a Mac user, the issues are worse since Sony doesn't support High Sierra yet to do firmware updates. The customer service over the chat room and email leaves a lot to be desired.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality, Performance & Price Great ISO range and better noise reduction than the A6000. Very fast Auto-focus system with the EVF being about as good as it can get. Compact but feels a tad bigger & slightly heavier than my previous A6000, has a real quality feel to it. Granted its not waterproof but dust & moisture resistance was important. Absolutely outstanding picture quality with prime lenses. With more & more lens coming out in E-Mount I'm looking for to expanding mycapabalities with this camera. The only drawback for me is there is no LCD touch-screen, but not a really big issue....Love the features of the 6300 over the 6000 and would definitely buy this camera again

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Had to return it due to overheating This took excellent photos, even with the kit lens, but it overheated so readily I could not use it. The Internet is full of experimenters attempting to deal with this issue with faster memory cards, tricking the camera into a low level reset by changing the date/year setting, and even external batteries, fans, or recorders. And it seems to not affect every sample of the camera. I wasn't willing to go through all that and returned it after 2 days. If you get this, test it right away in the environments you plan to use it in to see if it works for your needs.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Performance Issues I own this camera as well as the aR II and pretty much everything from Canon up to the 1dX. The biggest problem with this camera and the aR II is focusing performance. I shoot animals and landscapes and find the focusing performance slow and cumbersome even compared to the Canon SL1 not to mention the 5D Mk III or 7D Mk II. Great specs and good features and ergonomics but the performance is not quite there yet. Further, the lens selection really is abysmal. Canon or Sigma glass is far superior and better performers but does not compensate for the poor focusing performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! I am a very enthusiastic photographer with a picky taste for lenses. Having said that, i navigate using primes as the GM 85mm, the Sony 24mm, some old school manual focus Zeiss lenses etc. To keep up with my GM, I opted for the a6300 the main reason being the AF capabilities. My GM 85 was performing ok on my a7r but when the kids had a bit too much sugar, it wouldn't keep up. I just finished working on a BD party i shot last weekend with the a6300 and the results are absolutely great. It basically translates into being given the ability to take certain shots i would not be able to capture with my a7r.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product and Sales experience My old camera was the Sony NEX 7. I have waited almost 5 years to upgrade as I didn't see significant enough improvements. The a6300 has much better low light capabilities. It also has far faster shutter and focus mechanisms. I chose the a6300 over the brand new a6500 because the stability available on the a6500, while impressive, isn't particularly relevant -- all of the longer lenses Sony has have stability anyway. I'll consider the a6500 if and when Sony comes out with a new line of quality lightweight lenses. As for now, the much cheaper and almost just as good a6300 is the far better deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this camera! I had an NEX-5n and swore I'd never buy Sony again because of the overheating issue, even though I loved the image quality. I couldn't resist when they put out the A7Sii and I bought one and love that, too. But the A6300 only differs from the A7Sii in that it has an APS-C sized sensor and it doesn't quite have the low light capability. That said, it still does well in low light and I don't mind the slightly smaller sensor. In fact, when using S-Log3 its minimum ISO is 800, rather than the A7Sii's 1600, and for stills it's a 24MP camera, rather than the A7Sii's 12MP. It's a great buy and my new go-to camera!
