mLogic mTape overview

  • 1Description

Connect the mTape Thunderbolt 2 LTO-7 Ultrium External Tape Drive from mLogic directly to a compatible Windows, Mac, or Linux computer via the dual Thunderbolt 2 ports, each supporting a maximum data transfer rate of 300 MB/s. Once connected, files can be dragged and dropped directly to the tape drive, as it is capable of reading and writing to both LTO-6 and LTO-7 tapes. It can also read data from an LTO-5 tape. Additionally, tape drives can be formatted, mounted, and ejected using the intuitive mTape Utility included with the External Tape Drive.

Drag and Drop with LTFS
mTape supports the Linear Tape File System (LTFS). With LTFS, mTape mounts LTO media just like a hard disk allowing users to simply drag and drop content to LTO. As LTFS is an open format, the combination of mTape and LTFS empowers you with both ease of use and unrestricted interchange of content between Mac, Linux and Windows computers. The mTape Utility is included for free to help you easily mount the mTape drive using LTFS. Once installed, just connect the drive to a Thunderbolt-enabled computer and launch the utility software to safely format, mount, and eject tapes.
Thunderbolt 2
mTape Thunderbolt 2 LTO-7 is equipped with dual Thunderbolt 2 ports, and it is certified by Apple and Intel. In addition to providing backup speeds of up to 300 MB/second, Thunderbolt peripherals can be daisy-chained together using the mTape.
SAS Expansion
mLogic's mTape SAS unit can be attached to the SAS expansion port on mTape Thunderbolt to enable simultaneous backups/archives to two LTO 6 tapes for the ultimate in data security (requires third-party software). The SAS port also supports other SAS devices such as LTOs and RAID systems.

mTape is compatible with backup and archiving software including:
